If you have a Garmin with bluetooth, it's the way to go.
Sadly, I don't. I have an old 210 that still works. I actually have to plug it in.
When I had the 210, I had no use for GarminConnect, I just loaded straight to RA. But I had the good fortune of it completely crapping out on me, so I could replace it with a 220, which has the bluetooth. The only problem is I have to remember to plug it in to charge it every few days.
