Got caught up on the threads.  You guys have been busy.  Missed Dave - -hope all is OK?

    How is everybody?

ROS:  I need some strawberry shortcake

ZZY:  Glad you are feeling better.  Cipro's nothing to mess with - -glad you were able to switch it out.

KC:  I can definitely see that a backpack can affect pace.

Got in 4.4 on the flat road today.  Did some short runs while I was gone from the thread.  Hells Canyon was really awesome.  It's a long drive up to Hat Point Lookout, but imho it's worth it.

Had a doctor visit.  My specialist wasn't available so I opted to get in with another who was.  She's run a dozen marathons or so and ran Boston.  She hikes, bikes, swims, mountain climbs, and worked with a rescue service in the Himalayas.  With that bio I thought it couldn't hurt.  It was pretty good except she told me she had to go to three runs a week and cross training as she got older and that maybe I should think on it as she BQ's on it.  That became the general theme.  I've done Run Less Run Faster and done right it's damn hard, so would rather not, unless there's no other choice.  Next steps involve needles and/or an MRI, or just take it easy with running and see how it goes.  I do have an appointment in several weeks with my knee specialist who's also a researcher on knee injuries so we'll take it from there.

I started trying to catch up the past two weeks of you people's daily posts, but my eyes are starting to bleed, so FTS.  I did catch Bab's sick PR 5K, congratulations dude.  That's awesome.

My hip got way worse, had to take off a week completely, that sucked balls.  Couple rounds of ART, a whole lot of cussing, and a week at half-volume, and I'm somewhat back in business.  DavePNW, thanks for posting the pic from Ray's, that made my day.  As aforementioned, I gave up on reading, so not sure how your injury sitch is going, but solidarity man.  It is the suck.

Ran 5 easy miles today in "WTF is that woman wearing?!?!?"  I've gotten to the point with laundry that I ordered socks from Amazon so I wouldn't have to do it (my G-d, work is insane and kicking my ass), but I'm down to some very odd short/tank combos.  Fluorescent orange sorts and a slightly less painfully bright orange shirt = channeling a traffic cone.  But hey, visible AF, right?  Plus I got me some new Darn Toughs, so #winning.

SRD for me. Hot as hell out there. 10K Sunday should be fun. At least there’s no pressure to do well since it’s going to be 80 with a DP of 73 at the start

Good luck!  If it’s a meniscus tear, Baboon and I have gone through that so feel free to PM me.

Thanks Docket.  I'm thinking it almost has to be, but we will see.  If it is I'll probably have lots of questions.

KCRuns I would definitely agree that the backpack affects your paces, and even your energy expenditure. It's not weight evenly distributed, it's all on the back. When you're tired, and it's hot, than damn backpack is the straw that breaks the camel's back.

Both Baboon and I had surgery.  Recovery is a breeze after what you've been through.  Feel free to contact me when you need to.

7 TM miles done after Pilates.  The race didn't leave me sore.  But OTF four days after the race killed me.  So sore....

I love strawberry shortcake but that is not common in Miami, so hard to find.

This makes me feel much better! I knew I was struggling more than I should, but all week I couldn’t figure out why.  Now I know where to make adjustments.  Thank you!

Hey. Today I am driving 90 minutes then taking a 30 minute boat ride to do a 9 mile hike up a mountain to see a glacier and will have Oski in tow.  Gonna be a good day.

FYI this was awesome. 14.5 mile hike, 2900' of uphill, 5:35 of hiking. We're tired and got filthy. Saw a glacier, icebergs, sea otters, bald eagles, amazing views, and a whole lot of bear shit but no bears.
