Bring back Boylston Street (Read 170 times)

Terrorist may bomb, shoot, hack, and hi-jack but are unable to take our resolve and freedom. As Americans, as runners and as people we will return to the Streets of Boston to run, work, laugh and play. You, the terrorists, will be remembered, remembered as the coward that disrupted our peace - briefly. You will be remembered as the evil that had no face, the coward. Your cause however will be fruitless and impotent. Mentioned and forgotten and that brings me some calm, some calm knowing that you had no impact for your cause. The souls you took will not be soiled but shine. They will shine fondly every Boston Marathon here after.

Peace be with you but may God turn your soul.

Nevrgivup - my wife posted the following quote on FB and it made me think of you. Thank you for being there as a volunteer.

“When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news,” he said in a highly viral image “My mother would say to me, ‘Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.’ To this day, especially in times of ‘disaster,’ I remember my mother’s words, and I am always comforted by realizing that there are still so many helpers — so many caring people in this world.”Mr.Rogers

Boylston Street is still here. A little tattered, but still here. We still rock.

I've never had even the slightest desire to run a marathon, but now I'd like to try to work towards BQing so i can run Boston in 2 years.

I think it would be nice if next Boston Marathon they just had an open format with 10s of thousands just running as one on the route to Boylston Street.

I just said the same thing in another thread. I never once had the desire to compete in a marathon, but I do now. I wanted to turn my rage into something constructive - it's gonna be this.

I'm just sitting at my desk, crying as I read through this and all the other threads. Though my heart hurts in an unimaginable way right now, it is warmed by the response here in this forum, and here in Boston. I, too, will start making a plan for a marathon and not be afraid.

At this point it would take an act of God for me to run fast enough to actually qualify for Boston but I plan to be there next year one way or another.  Either running through a charity or just as a spectator/volunteer.  I'll be there. Fuck whoever did this and fuck their "cause" too.

You can join my charity that I created in my head last night - FUT - fuck you terrorists - we'll be raising money for terrorism victims.   I wonder how to get it so that it counts for the BAA entrance to the marathon.

That would be a charity I would create, Oski.

I will not be doing Boston next year (neither for charity) but now I want to do it one day (never wanted to before).  I just don't think I can convince my husband to do that specific race next year.

As part of the 2024 London Marathon, I am fundraising for VICTA, a charity that helps blind and visually impaired children. My mentor while in law school, Jim K (a blind attorney), has been a huge inspiration and an example of courage and perseverance. Please consider donating.

I am planning on being there as a friends SAG team. It would be nice to see an organized effort to demonstrate our resilience. A example would be if all runners and spectators could wear re white and blue or some derivation of this.
