Windmill Wednesday Penguins (Read 11 times)

Singer who runs a smidge

The "Penguin" daily threads were originally conceived to emphasize that all members of the community have a place on the boards. Encouragement, motivation, a little love nip (you will love one, give it a try!) or even a little kick in the pants when needed -- it can happen here. Basically, we celebrate just getting out there and moving our tails! What is "slow"? "Slow" is a perception but one of the common benchmarks is the 10:00/mi pace; but there's no firm line. In fact, there are many of us that have slipped past this, and just hope that no one notices and revokes their "igloo privileges."  And some penguins don't run at all, we just hang out for the company! It can be confusing for the forum newbies, but we're not one of the teams in any of the fine games. It's a totally open group, so stop lurking, post an introduction of yourself dive in and join the fun! No application necessary! There might even be a lovely picture for Scotty (we love pics!)

When it's all said and done, no one remembers how far we have run.  The only thing that matters is how we have loved.

Not that today has anything to do with windmills, or that I like windmills particularly.  It was just the first word after the insipid "wonderful" that popped into my head beginning with the letter w.  So, I have quartet practice tonight, making it the fourth day out of five that I've sung with these women.  I suspect we're a little tired of seeing each other!!

HM - what does your husband do while you're off with your musical friends?  Does he have a hobby that is as engrossing?

We have snow squalls heading our way, just in time for Ben's walk.  OTOH, it's Accuweather that says that, and we know how accurate that is. I have 10 to do later, and I'm hoping the rain and snow will have moved off by then.

Morning!  I have either weights or an RD.

          HopesMom, enjoy practice tonight.

Ginny, hope you do the 10 outside!

As part of the 2024 London Marathon, I am fundraising for VICTA, a charity that helps blind and visually impaired children. My mentor while in law school, Jim K (a blind attorney), has been a huge inspiration and an example of courage and perseverance. Please consider donating.

          Barking Mad To Run

Nice run/walk last night from Tripoint YMCA, one of our local Ys -  to Brackenridge Park - a very popular San Antonio park near the San Antonio Zoo - and through the park, and back to the Y. At one point I thought about going down a nearby dead-end road by the golf course - there is a bridge at the end that allows you to cross into a neighborhood - but then I remembered all the rain we had previously, so went the long way around. Good thing, cuz when I got to that footbridge, it was totally underwater, fast moving water. Never woulda made it across that! The river was really swollen out and fast moving.   Got back to the Y with 4 miles done.

Scott - I'm glad you were able to avoid the flooded river.

D - I hope you enjoy your weights or rest.

It was an interesting run:  22 mph winds with occasional flurries. The last mile was into the wind and into a snow squall.  I was very happy to see the car!  Jim had a doctor's appt. so I ran into town to meet him, and managed to extend the run to 10.4.  Most of the time the wind was at my back or to the side, but it still had me staggering.
