do you get a map in Stryd?

Yes. It has no info though, like mile markers or pace. It's just a line of the run.

I don't have mine set to distance and speed: always. I have mine set to use the GPS. so in the Power Center if I switch it to show the Splits instead of Miles then I can see what Stryd measured for each mile.  I think the only way you can compare it if you have yours set to always for speed and distance is by checking what Strava recorded? (Right Cy?)

Yup. Agree with all said be onemile and lrb

My auto calibration is off but the speed source and distance source on the garmin, for OUTDOOR runs is set to use the GPS (for indoor runs it uses it).

if you set the speed source and distance source to always use Stryd, it won't measure your speed and distance by GPS. It will use the Stryd pod. If you run in an area where GPS is unreliable, maybe you want that. (like Cyber)

Auto-calibration adjusts the calibration factor based on GPS. So then if you have GPS errors it will change that number and then when you run indoors it will factor that in.

        Makes total sense; thanks.

There is no "wrong" or "right, just your preference. Mine is set to distance: always, speed: always, meaning I am not getting pace or distance information from the GPS, it's coming from the pod. Auto-calibration is disabled and the correction factor is at 100.

That's exactly what mine's set to, too (I think based off the article Cy posted on our stickies!).

Good afternoon! I just realized it is nearly 1pm.

We got back from Mexico last night--what a great trip! I also managed to log 5 runs (I think?!) and almost 30 miles. WUT?! WOOT! I may be miscalculating but if that is the case, I blame the amount of booze I've consumed. Definitely time for a detox! Not really any drunkenness, but just booze every.single.day.  Have you guys ever done a formal detox or just clean up your diet?

I’ve never done a formal one, I just clean up my diet. This is what I’m worried about when we go to Aruba for ten days. I’m really trying to lose 10-15 lbs and obviously vacation isn’t going to help that. Unless I just don’t indulge at all which doesn’t sound fun either

onemile I’m really excited to see how you do in Houston! When is it again? Very end of the month?

Okay then am I doing it wrong? Should I change my settings? What do you have yours on?

You have it correct to what Cy, LRB and me have, I think. Set to always reading from the Stryd. And you wouldn't have two different sets of data. You have what comes out of the Stryd with the map from the GPS (Garmin).

That's what I have and I get a map both in Stryd and Garmin (and Strava). Here is the one from Stryd.

Awesome. Have you ever run the Hansons' hills? They have a 16 miler every March leading into Boston, it was my longest long run the year I ran it, working my way back up coming off of a debilitating injury.

sorry for late response; never got back to the thread yesterday...I've never run the Hanson's hills, sounds like a good run. Is it at Stony Creek park?

No biggie. It's in Lake Orion. It starts from their store and is supported with aid stations twice a year (once in March and again in September). They also run it every Sunday without aid stations. The standard course is an 8 mile loop, so two loops gets you 16. I've run some variation of it a dozen times since 2014. Loved it so much that I started running it alone. Would run it every week but it's a 45 ish minute drive. Anyway, it's a definite must-do if you want to get stronger at hill running, and stronger in general overall.

I've added the March run to my calendar. If I think my hammies are up to it, in the next month or so, I may try one of the regular Sunday runs but limit it to 8 miles.
