The "Penguin" daily threads were originally conceived to emphasize that all members of the community have a place on the boards. Encouragement, motivation, a little love nip (you will love one, give it a try!) or even a little kick in the pants when needed -- it can happen here. Basically, we celebrate just getting out there and moving our tails! What is "slow"? "Slow" is a perception but one of the common benchmarks is the 10:00/mi pace; but there's no firm line. In fact, there are many of us that have slipped past this, and just hope that no one notices and revokes their "igloo privileges." And some penguins don't run at all, we just hang out for the company! It can be confusing for the forum newbies, but we're not one of the teams in any of the fine games. It's a totally open group, so stop lurking, post an introduction of yourself dive in and join the fun! No application necessary! There might even be a lovely picture for Scotty (we love pics!)
When it's all said and done, no one remembers how far we have run. The only thing that matters is how we have loved.
All our pets are rescues, though only Dusty came from the shelter. So I'd change it to rescue pets, but today is Adopt a Shelter Pet Day. Woo-hoo!!
Had a meeting this morning -- I'm going up for promotion this year, and it was all about how to write your dossier. Because I'm not tenure-track faculty, it's a little weird. I won't say no worries, but the worries will be spread out until next May, so basically it's just worries you get used to.
And my tech is still on vacation (he'll be back tomorrow or the next day), so I'm all kinds of busy!

Morning! I mean, afternoon! RD for me except Pilates. The marathon was hilly AF but one more state is done.
All our cats are rescued, some from the streets, some from the high kill shelter here. In fact, Bugsy is typing this right now.

I have Pilates and 5 miles tonight. Our new boss is coming today (my boss is retiring and we are temporarily under the Orlando boss), so this should be fun. Mostly because my boss can't ever let go and he is a control freak and he wants his will to remain and we just all want his decisions to be redone, lol.

HM - sorry you had such a bad week. I hope it got better. My stepdaughter started the week with a car accident, ended it with a rescue puppy (mastiff!). Ours was actually quite nice, for the most part, as we slowly wind our way southward. A few missteps, but mostly good. A cousin we intended to visit refuses to answer phone numbers she doesn't recognize and she didn't know our cell number so we had a bit of a problem getting together. The brother in Arizona we intended to stay with is heading to Alaska for a cruise just when we expected to arrive. Oh well.
