Wild Wednesday Penguins! (Read 7 times)

Singer who runs a smidge

The "Penguin" daily threads were originally conceived to emphasize that all members of the community have a place on the boards. Encouragement, motivation, a little love nip (you will love one, give it a try!) or even a little kick in the pants when needed -- it can happen here. Basically, we celebrate just getting out there and moving our tails! What is "slow"? "Slow" is a perception but one of the common benchmarks is the 10:00/mi pace; but there's no firm line. In fact, there are many of us that have slipped past this, and just hope that no one notices and revokes their "igloo privileges."  And some penguins don't run at all, we just hang out for the company! It can be confusing for the forum newbies, but we're not one of the teams in any of the fine games. It's a totally open group, so stop lurking, post an introduction of yourself dive in and join the fun! No application necessary! There might even be a lovely picture for Scotty (we love pics!)

When it's all said and done, no one remembers how far we have run.  The only thing that matters is how we have loved.

Didn't ride this morning, because I definitely need sleep and my wits about me today.  I have day 2 of a gel digest (about four hours of 10 minutes of this, 5 minutes of that, etc etc) as well as tuning and calibrating my instrument that was down.  Woo-hoo!!

Morning!  Super sleepy and on my second cordadito.  Sheesh.  I have 5 miles tonight.  Ran 4 on the TM last night and slow, but better than expected.

HopesMom, enjoy all that! Have no idea what you said, lol.

As part of the 2024 London Marathon, I am fundraising for VICTA, a charity that helps blind and visually impaired children. My mentor while in law school, Jim K (a blind attorney), has been a huge inspiration and an example of courage and perseverance. Please consider donating.

          Barking Mad To Run

Yesterday:   Started at TriPoint YMCA and headed for the Monte Vista area, an historic old district in San Antonio with much nice houses. A few hills along the way. Planned on 3 easy miles but felt so good kept on going. Made a stop at the office of my wife's auto mechanic - yeah, she has a guy, lol - and popped in to give his dog, Weimeraner Mercedes, a treat. Mercedes was very happy to see me, lol. Ended up with 5.1 miles in 57 minutes. One thing I've learned in 33 years of running, if you're feeling good, go a little longer for a while, cuz you never know what tomorrow may bring. So I got my 'long run' for the week out of the way early this week, nice!

Today:  3.2 easy miles at Fort Sam Houston. Nice easy run after my somewhat hilly 5 miles yesterday.  Weather was actually pretty nice.  Even though the temp was in the 70s at 6 a.m. the dew-point was low, so it actually felt pretty comfortable out.

I got my two major tasks done, so I'm a happy camper!!

Scotty, sounds like a great run!!

Scotty - they both sound like nice runs.

HM - I'm glad you're getting things back under control.

D - good luck with your evening 5.

First a trip to Gander Mtn. to see if anything interesting is part of their going out of business sale, then waited out a thunderstorm so I can run outside, then we got a call that the truck is finally fixed so we need to go pick it up - I don't think I'm going to get a run today. Grr.
