A picture of Meb Keflezighi's Garmin:(taken from his Twitter feed)
Just for fun I plugged his numbers into a pace calculator.
December 195 miles in 20:22:33 (6:16 average pace)
January 335 miles in 36:13:57 (6:29 average pace)
February 379 miles in 39:28:09 (6:14 average pace)
"It doesn’t matter how often you do it or how much you accomplish, in general, not running is a lot easier than running." - Meb Keflezighi
So, December was his cutback month?
Holy moley.
He averaged a Half marathon PER DAY in February. Hot damn.
They'll tell you that failure is not an option. That's ridiculous. Failure is always an option. It is the easiest and most readily available option. It's your choice though.
Same thing went through my mind.
So, December was his cutback month? Holy moley.

As part of the 2024 London Marathon, I am fundraising for VICTA, a charity that helps blind and visually impaired children. My mentor while in law school, Jim K (a blind attorney), has been a huge inspiration and an example of courage and perseverance. Please consider donating.

Wow! and that is why he is a world class runner. I can't imagine running that many miles per week. He is a professional though.
Running is my mental-Ctrl-Alt-Del.
What is impressive is not so much his monthly mileage, because I think many of us could run as much if we didn't have full time jobs. What is truly impressive is his average pace for the mileage he runs!
PRs: Boston Marathon, 3:27, April 15th 2013
Cornwall Half-Marathon, 1:35, April 27th 2013
18 marathons, 18 BQs since 2010
We have the same Garmin! (Probably the only thing we have in common)
Mmmmm...beer
Definitely impressive!

Uffda
One thing that popped in my mind is that he was running a little over an hour a day in those 3 months (sort of on average). That's what normal people run. He just runs a lot faster than us.

Excellent point.
You people have issues
I'm actually surprised that it is so low
I think he runs some recovery miles without his Garmin.
Slow and steady never wins anything.

That's what I thought as well...
Recovery miles = 6:45 pace?
Dave
In my competitive years my recovery pace was around 6: 40, LRs 5:45 - 6:20.
6:45 is slow jogging for Meb.
