Singer who runs a smidge
The "Penguin" daily threads were originally conceived to emphasize that all members of the community have a place on the boards. Encouragement, motivation, a little love nip (you will love one, give it a try!) or even a little kick in the pants when needed -- it can happen here. Basically, we celebrate just getting out there and moving our tails! What is "slow"? "Slow" is a perception but one of the common benchmarks is the 10:00/mi pace; but there's no firm line. In fact, there are many of us that have slipped past this, and just hope that no one notices and revokes their "igloo privileges." And some penguins don't run at all, we just hang out for the company! It can be confusing for the forum newbies, but we're not one of the teams in any of the fine games. It's a totally open group, so stop lurking, post an introduction of yourself dive in and join the fun! No application necessary! There might even be a lovely picture for Scotty (we love pics!)
When it's all said and done, no one remembers how far we have run. The only thing that matters is how we have loved.
Seems it's National Feel The Love day, so let someone know you love them! And it's also National Beer Lover's Day, so crack open a cold one with the ones you love!
Ok, I'm not a beer fan, so I'll just kiss DH this evening and call it good. Plus I have chorus tonight, and singing while buzzed is never a good idea, karaoke performances notwithstanding.

HopeMom, my husband is freaking out about the storm, as instead of feeling the love, he was whining and yelling all morning. Glad he is gone to the hospital. LOL.

I'm with your DH, I'd probably be freaking out too!! But then we don't do hurricanes here in VA too often, so that's probably why.
True story, there's a housing development around here called Lake Monticello. It's around a huge man-made lake. They were doing the original excavation for the lake and had nearly finished when hurricane Camille came storming through town (1998?). It was quite the hurricane, and filled up the lake. The company doing the excavation basically shrugged and gave up, so all of their heavy equipment is still at the bottom of the lake.
So don't leave anything in a hole in your backyard!
Barking Mad To Run
3.3 miles easy around the campus yesterday. Weather was pretty sweet for Texas in September. Some cooler air pushing in from north of us, so very low humidity for the next couple of day.
Running after work today at Fort Sam Houston. Flat and easy - my legs are still a tad sore from the giant hills I climbed on on Labor Day at the Whine Run 5-miler.

We had a nice cool dry day here - about 70 with some clouds. I did an easy 10. I love autumn weather.
HM - I'll happily celebrate Beer Lovers Day, especially after today's MLR.
D - Nice that you can work from home and avoid the traffic. I really hope you all can stay safe.
Scotty - That was a very hilly race you did. I'm glad you're starting to recover, especially since the weather is cooperating.
The building closed so we had no choice, but I had already told my boss I was teleworking as normal today even if we had not. No need to go crazy out there. Yesterday I saw two accidents and traffic jams just because people are panicking. Picking 30-40 sandbags that will have no use if we get flooding (they won't help and won't be needed anyway, since we are inland). I don't know, the people I have seen buying 40 cases of water look like they have never been through a hurricane before, seriously.
My 15 miles went really well. Now I'm hydrating with vodka while I watch hubby run on the TM.
