Wickedly Average
I think that 1250 miles is achievable in 2013.
I will be running 2 15K races, hoping to PR both, breaking 1:24 at least once.
I also have 2 HMs planned, and I' hoping to PR at least 1 of them, and break 1:50 at least once.
Looking to break 24:00 for a 5K, and set PRs in a couple of races that I ran this year. I don't think I'll make "runner of the year" in the track club, but I hope to score a few more points in 2013. I'm surprised that I got any points in 2012, but I did.

Tom, you can break 1:24 for sure. I think we are fairly close in ability at this point and I pulled off my 15k PR with very low mileage.
YOU CAN DOOOO EEET!

To still be running at the end of the year.
To maintain my weight loss.
Everything else is just gravy.
I have fun plans for my year and my coach has goals for me, and we seem to be conflicting. Weird, eh? I'm thinking about firing him, but I'm too shy... What did I get myself into?
PRs: Boston Marathon, 3:27, April 15th 2013
Cornwall Half-Marathon, 1:35, April 27th 2013
18 marathons, 18 BQs since 2010
Lose 7 lbs (currently 196).
A sub-20:00 5k.
A sub-1:40 half marathon.
And a 3:30 marathon.
My focus and training will be on the 5k goal for the first six months of the year. My half marathon training will be a jump off from my 5k training, with an adjustment for more miles.
I didn't list a 10k goal because at this time, it is not of great importance to me. Likewise, my half marathon goal is a gateway to achieving my marathon goal, and thus is a conservative time.
As of today ten months out from the event, I am uncertain what my plan of attack will be for the marathon. But it most likely will be a hybrid of Daniels' 5k and marathon training plans. The jury is still out on that one.
Good luck everyone!
Go figure
I'm assuming his goals are more aggressive than yours? I'd imagine a coach would see his purpose as being to get the most out of your potential as possible - which you clearly have tons of given your times and ability to withstand mileage. Unless you actually tell him you'd like to run for something different (like the fun plans you have), then it seems probable your plans would conflict.
I'd guess that he'd appreciate you telling him what you are really looking to achieve, and would be happy to help you get there, even if he thinks (or knows) you could do more. If he isn't happy to listen, then I'd say kick him to the curb, even if you have to leave him a note or have one of your friends do it
