Barking Mad To Run

Runmom...do you ever do any runs that are UNDER double digits?  Wink  Good luck with the 13!

Good luck with the 7, Jedi, hope your beat-up legs behave themselves for you.

Good luck with the 12, Bruce.  Enjoy whichever location you decide on.  Personally, I'd rather be outside in snow than do 12 miles on a track!

Lily, see my note to Runmom above... Wink   Dinner is not a problem for me and Gail as there is just the two of us.  We are both pretty active post-work, so we pretty much each make our own dinners after whatever time we get home.

    Congrats on your 10, scrape.

Enjoy your lunch-time run, Dave.  Like you, I am lucky with my bosses, they are all fitness-oriented.  Also, I work at a university, so our 'work-world' is a lot more "looser' than the corporate world is.  I can take a very long lunch, just as long as I make up the time for doing it. So sometimes I will run at lunch and then just work a couple hours extra beyond my normal stopwork time.

Enjoy your workout, Pinktastic, whatever you decide.

My knee doc appointment went great this morning.  The damage to my knee is not as bad as originally thought, though still significant.  My LCL and MLC are not torn (he would not have operated on those anyway).  Of the two meniscus tears, one may just be scar tissue showing on the MRI, and the other is a major vertical tear that he can repair without cutting away.  My ACL will be replaced via allograft (donor tissue).  So, I won't lose any of my meniscus, and my LCL and MCL are not torn.  Great news to me.  Doc says I should make a full recovery and will eventually get back to the volume of running and biking I was at before the injury.  Recovery is a little quicker with the allograft as opposed to hamstring, so I'll actually start running again at three months (May) and should be able to start logging mileage again by July.  The allograft does need a little more time to strengthen for skiing, so I'm looking at December/January for that.  I am clear for surgery next Tuesday.

I feel hungrier in the morning when I eat a lot the night before than when I eat less. Maybe the body just says GIVE ME MORE.

Just finished easy 10 in some heavy fog. Felt unusually hungry this morning even though I thought I ate a lot last night.

Good news, except for the bruise.

My knee that I fell on at work yesterday feels ok today. Bruised, but otherwise just fine, thankfully!

Lily eats at 6:30pm?  I'm starting my run at that hour.  You do NOT want to know the time I eat dinner.

Gustav, don't get electrocuted out there!

SIGH. That is my downfall, LRB...I love burgers too much!  Probably why I don't lose weight, lol.  OTOH, I'm not gaining any either.  I just kinda stay even, right where I am.  Still...gotta do better about not eating so much fast-food.

Good luck with your workout, Basya.  And.....

            WAKE UP!

Hope your swim went well, Just B.S.!  Good luck with the 7 miles later.

50s is waaay too cold to run, Kay!  Give me some 70s and 80s! Joking  Good luck with your miles.

Awww, gee, INS, so sorry you are 'sick'.  Yeah, that fair-weather flu will getcha!   Enjoy your run!

            PRE-dawn run, April?  Congrats!

Glad your appointment went well, Baboon, and hope you got all your questions answered!  Heck, I bet I could probably answer most of them for you, after 4 knee surgeries, lol. Joking

Good luck with your tempo run, Luke!  I think the lousy weather is working its way down South for us.  We have a cold front here for the next 2 - 3 days.  Yes, 40 degrees IS cold for we South Texas cold-weather wimps...especially when we were just in the 80s yesterday.

Yeah, flarunner, I saw on the weather news that our 'cold front' is heading your way next. Break out the jacket!

              What up doe!

Got my myrtle on this morning for 40 reps each with the blue band, 40 reps of standing side lunges and 50 reps of single leg squats.  I am still weak on my left leg with the squats but I am getting better.

I have been looking for better ways to target the adductor muscles (inner thigh) and came across this golden nugget which I did with my leg in front:

The mistake I made was doing it in the middle of my myrtle routine, after which my thighs legs completely fried!

It looks simple enough, but 40 of these bad boys has my legs feeling like rubber!

                Good news baboon!

I'm envious of people who get a long enough lunch break to run!!!! I barely have time to eat lunch and catch up on emails during mine!! Do you shower after too, or just go through the rest of work smelly?

And I don't eat dinner til 8:30 or 9:00 cuz that's when I get home!

                  Baboon - Like that report!
NotScott - What a terrible affliction! I hope the 65* sunshine clears it up for you.

Lily - We typically try to eat dinner around 6:15 or 6:30 so we have a little extra time after dinner before DS's 8 p.m. bedtime.

indoors again for me. 7 miles, possibly with some 200 m hill repeats, if my legs feel up to it.

20,000 miles behind me, the world still to see.

We have showers in my office building.  During the warmer months, I'll always shower after I run. Not always in the winter.  My excuse is that my work day ends about 90 minutes after lunch because I work 6:00-2:30.  If I know I have to stay late or if I'll be in a meeting after I run, then I clean up.  Otherwise I just close my office door until it is time for me to cut out.

Good morning everyone! We've got a heat wave here, it's 50 degrees! Hoping to do the group run at LRS tonight, it's supposed to rain but the storms aren't supposed to start until later. Fingers crossed!

Gustav - good luck dodging the tstorms

Basya - enjoy the tempo miles

Beth - good to be prepared for anything

Kay - that's some coffee porn headed  in the right direction

NotScott - have fun with your "flu".  I have off on the best weather day of the week, for once.

Luke - have a good one too

D - is it for a specific allergy, or just everything?

flarunner - your spring days are probably a bit nicer than what will pass for spring in Buffalo

                            Heidi - lucky 13

Kristin - nice job on the "race day"

                            Jedi - good recovery

Bruce - vote for in the snow

Lily - We usually eat sometime around 7:30 as well.  Sometimes I run before, sometimes after, depending on my schedule.  DW normally goes right to bed after eating though, since she works 6a-2p

scrape. - good work on the fog run, still a bit murky here as well.  At least it's not the hand and lip cracking dry air that was around with the single digits.

kristin - glad the knee is ok

Dave - I envy you guys who not only get a lunch, but get to run on it.

Sparker - it would just be the speed at which you'd try to race a mile.  If you haven't done one, guesstimating should be fine.

Sarah - I will make sure to learn something on my run today, thanks

Scotty - good to hear, keeping her in my thoughts

April - nice job in the fog

Baboon - that must be a big relief, great news.  Hoping for a full and speedy recovery for you.

Step - you have hills indoors? Wink

Lilac - have fun with the group run

Headed out for 15 rare AM miles, hopefully my new shoes are waiting on the porch when I get back.

Planning on 5-6 slow ones later tonight. I've been getting in 45 minutes of swimming on Wednesday nights occasionally but my youngest turns 10 today so I think that pretty much takes precedence after work.

That looks like a fun race. Have you run it before?
