Monday Monday Penguins! (Read 6 times)

Singer who runs a smidge

The "Penguin" daily threads were originally conceived to emphasize that all members of the community have a place on the boards. Encouragement, motivation, a little love nip (you will love one, give it a try!) or even a little kick in the pants when needed -- it can happen here. Basically, we celebrate just getting out there and moving our tails! What is "slow"? "Slow" is a perception but one of the common benchmarks is the 10:00/mi pace; but there's no firm line. In fact, there are many of us that have slipped past this, and just hope that no one notices and revokes their "igloo privileges."  And some penguins don't run at all, we just hang out for the company! It can be confusing for the forum newbies, but we're not one of the teams in any of the fine games. It's a totally open group, so stop lurking, post an introduction of yourself dive in and join the fun! No application necessary! There might even be a lovely picture for Scotty (we love pics!)

When it's all said and done, no one remembers how far we have run.  The only thing that matters is how we have loved.

      Hey y'all,

My one-line rant from Friday was due to people whom you have to basically sit on in order to get them to do their jobs.  I was just over humanity at that point.

Anyway, my busy weekend went pretty well -- I sounded kinda croaky for the funeral on Saturday, but it was ok.  And even croakier for quartet coaching Saturday afternoon, but that was ok as well -- I've worked with this coach before, so she knows what I sound like normally, and was able to work with that instead of the croak.

Oh, and both of these items kept me from participating in the anti-KKK events in my hometown ... you probably heard about the rally in the news.  I don't know much about it, but I was glad to hear that about 50 Klansmen were overshadowed by about 1000 anti-Klansmen.  Seriously, Klansidiots, I understand you're afraid of your vanishing lifestyle and loss of apparent power, but if you would actually get to know people who don't look and think like you do, you would understand that they're just people, and no threat, and usually pretty cool.  Sheesh.

Anyway, then I had a team meeting on Sunday, which was also fine.  My director is going on vacation to a dude ranch in Wyoming, so I'm basically running rehearsal on Thursday.  EEK!!

When it's all said and done, no one remembers how far we have run.  The only thing that matters is how we have loved.

Morning!  I didn't sleep, yay me.  I have 6 miles tonight.

HopesMom, I had read about the march, but didn't realize they were drowned out by saner people.  That's great.

As part of the 2024 London Marathon, I am fundraising for VICTA, a charity that helps blind and visually impaired children. My mentor while in law school, Jim K (a blind attorney), has been a huge inspiration and an example of courage and perseverance. Please consider donating.

HM - I'm glad your weekend singing went well, despite the frog in your throat.

          D - I hope your 6 went well.

I ended up doing 7 today. It was supposed to be a rest day, but we had a late lunch, then came home from errands around 7 pm when it was cloudy and relatively comfortable outside. Since we're expecting some hot and horribly humid days this week, I decided to do a run today and rest on one of the HHH days.
