Windy Weekend Penguins (Read 14 times)

GinnyinPA

The "Penguin" daily threads were originally conceived to emphasize that all members of the community have a place on the boards. Encouragement, motivation, a little love nip (you will love one, give it a try!) or even a little kick in the pants when needed -- it can happen here. Basically, we celebrate just getting out there and moving our tails! What is "slow"? "Slow" is a perception but one of the common benchmarks is the 10:00/mi pace; but there's no firm line. In fact, there are many of us that have slipped past this, and just hope that no one notices and revokes their "igloo privileges."  And some penguins don't run at all, we just hang out for the company! It can be confusing for the forum newbies, but we're not one of the teams in any of the fine games. It's a totally open group, so stop lurking, post an introduction of yourself dive in and join the fun! No application necessary! There might even be a lovely picture for Scotty (we love pics!)

This morning isn't bad yet, but this afternoon there are supposed to be 20 mph winds with showers and tomorrow is supposed to have 30+ mph winds with gusts up to 50. I really feel sorry for the Philly Marathon and JFK 50 runners who will have to deal with it.

Jerry - are you getting snow yet?

I'll do a few miles later, before the storm rolls in, hopefully.

      Return To Racing

Good Morning Ginny and Pens.  No snow, only a few flurries.  Ran 4.7 this morning with our group.  It was 35* and windy but not too bad.  Created the event last night on FB, so we only had 3 others besides us.  DW made hot chocolate.  Nice run with no cyclists on the bike path.

Froze my feet of last night camping at the lake. Just could not get them warm. Ran 15 on the trails there on frozen feet. I think it was 35 feels like 30 at the start. Not to bad at the end though until you stood around a while and cooled down. Probably 45 w/10mph.

Evening! Ran 8.50 miles with hubby and then lifted.  No Barre class this week. I need to finish rehabbing my back, which appear fine but I always seem to screw with it at Barre class.

Ginny, ugh at the wind.  I heard about Philly.  One of the reasons why I think I am scrapping the Rocky Challenge from my list any time soon.

Jerry, nice run with the group.

PAD, nice job on the freezing feet run.

I ended up with 8.75 miles. I had planned a rural loop, but the front passed through just after I started running. We went from sunny and 65 to dark clouds, high winds and about 45 degrees.  I ran to town (with the wind at my back) and let the houses block some of the wind the last few miles, then met DH at a café for a latte and muffin. While we ate, the rain started.  Nice timing.

Another cold windy day. When walking Ben, the feels like temperature was in the 20s, so we were bundled up in down coats and wool gloves. I couldn't face running in that, so I did 6 on the TM.

Ran 12 on the TM with the last 4 at current MP.  I'm ways away from what I've been training but with the two meds off it's time to rebuild.

Ginny, excellent workouts.  Hope it wasn't too windy today.
