Multipotent Monday Penguins (Read 31 times)

Barking Mad To Run

The "Penguin" daily threads were originally conceived to emphasize that all members of the community have a place on the boards. Encouragement, motivation, a little love nip (you will love one, give it a try!) or even a little kick in the pants when needed -- it can happen here.

Basically, we celebrate just getting out there and moving our tails! What is "slow"? "Slow" is a perception but one of the caommon benchmarks is the 10:00/mi pace; but there's no firm line. In fact, there are many of us that have slipped past this, and just hope that no one notices and revokes their "igloo privileges."

It can be confusing for the forum newbies, but we're not one of the teams in any of the fine games. It's a totally open group, so stop lurking, post an introduction of yourself dive in and join the fun! No application necessary! There might even be a lovely picture for Scotty (we love pics!)v

Multipotent - having the power to do many things.

So will you feel multipotent as you shop from website to website for this Cyber Monday?  Good luck for those searching for those online deals!

Back to work for me this morning after 5 days off, and about a ton of e-mails to go through, which is why I came in early today.

I had a very active Thanksgiving holiday, with 3 5Ks done...LOTS of photos so these report pages might take a while to load :

      Fear is a Liar

        Good Morning Penguins!

Scored some concert tickets on Saturday in a VIP suite at the event center which is about 4 miles from my house. The seats were awesome - recliners with a great stage view. It also included free beer, wine, soda, and snacks!

Running was both bad and good. Saturday was a craptastic 9 miler during which I seriously thought about quitting running. Sunday I gave myself a range of 6-12 miles depending on how I felt after the concert and free beer and wine. While I was running I figured I needed about 13 miles to make 50 for the week. So I ran 13.1 miles in 1:55 and also got my 50 for the week - woo hoo!

I'm so vegetarian I don't even eat animal crackers!

        Return To Racing

Good morning Scott, Gus, and Pengs.  Can't say as I am very Multipotent.

Good job on the 13.1 and 50, Gus.

Short recovery run after work and maybe I'll hit the gym too.  Feeling good after 10 miler yesterday.

Congrats to the weekend racers !!!

          Have a great Cyber Monday.

                Morning!  SRD for me.

We have not seen the sun since last Thursday.  At least it's not inches of rain but rather centimeters.  But the deluges are occurring all day.

I'm back on nights this week, 6 days, 12 hour shifts. Mileage wise, I think the schedule has me around 26 for the week. I'm about to head out for 4-5.

                            Singer who runs a smidge

Hi Penguins!!  Sorry I've been MIA, but the health issues I'd been having kind of blew up in my face last week.  I'd been having this really itchy rash all over, plus swollen lymph nodes, and last Sunday evening I started having trouble breathing and felt like I was going to pass out.  So I got DH to take me to the ER, and they ended up admitting me to the hospital for a couple of days.  After a freakin' lot of blood draws and multiple visits by docs in multiple specialties, they finally decided that I was having a bad reaction to the anti-inflammatory I'd been taking for runner's knee.  So they kicked me loose from the hospital the day before Thanksgiving, and now I'm on prednisone to clear out my system.  I'm feeling better, though not 100% yet, but I am finally back at work and such.  I have a follow-up doc appt tomorrow afternoon, which hopefully he'll tell me I can stop the prednisone and be normal again.  No more anti-inflammatories!!

When it's all said and done, no one remembers how far we have run.  The only thing that matters is how we have loved.

Sounds rough, Hope.  Glad to hear you're on the mend.
