It isn't working because you aren't linking something this site thinks is a picture. It has to be a simple url that ends in gif, jpg, etc.

I am an idiot and have no idea. I just tried uploading a pic on that free image hosting so that it would give me a URL, and then I clicked the little picture with the tree and copied and pasted it there. #fail

SIAM, I uploaded my photo to the tinypic.com site, clicked the tree icon here, and copied/pasted the url from the "Direct Link for Layouts" from tinypic.
30 minutes later and I've salvaged small threads of my dignity. Thanks for the help!
