March Goals (Read 126 times)

Keep mileage up and avoid burning myself out (I'm really getting too old for that stuff...)

    -  run a good time trial next week, hopefully a PR in training. This will help me decide on my marathon pace.

    - and uh... that's it, I guess?

    - 334 miles for the month. Feeling ok, but somewhat worn out.

    - I ran a couple 10ks in 43:33 and 43:43, right at the end of high mileage weeks, without taper. These are pretty much in line with the 1:12:02 10 miles I ran previously. It shows improvement for me, so that's good.

    PRs: Boston Marathon, 3:27, April 15th 2013

            Cornwall Half-Marathon, 1:35, April 27th 2013

Only 1 goal in the month of March:

        - Destroy my 10k PR of 38:27 in the St Patrick's Day Road Race 10k on March 17

Anything under 38:27 would be acceptable, though I'd prefer to get 37. Anything under 37:30 stands a good chance of putting me in the top 25 overall in the race.

Of couse, all bets are off if we get a ton of snow/sleet/ice that weekend...

Total miss....weather was -26 with the windchill, race was a disaster, now I'm questioning every run I do. Amazing how a bad race can totally kill your psyche. Angry

So true. I too had a bad 10K in March, and even though I had planned it as a training race with no taper, I find it still undermining my self-confidence daily...

          More cowbell!

Woohoo!  Made it through the month injury free.  Totaled 57 miles, and that's with being down for a week with illness.  A slow start to the year, but picking up steam.  Going to go over 100 miles this month!

            STILL HAVING FUN!!!

              1) Kick this ITBS once and for all! Well I am able to run consistently.... So I'm on my way there, though it still acts up occasionally...like right now Sad

              2) Stay consistient with ITB rehab Check

              3) Stick to my training plan and miss no runs except if sick or injured Almost.... missed 3.5 miles in March...1.5 due to cutting runs short for reasons other than injury, and 2 miles for missing a run on vacation....didn't miss any runs due to sickness or injury so there's that

              4) PR my 3/3 5K in spite of it being the toughest course I've ever raced Check!

              5) No new injuries Check!

              Calling March, overall, a success!
