Wet Thursday Penguins (Read 10 times)

GinnyinPA

The "Penguin" daily threads were originally conceived to emphasize that all members of the community have a place on the boards. Encouragement, motivation, a little love nip (you will love one, give it a try!) or even a little kick in the pants when needed -- it can happen here. Basically, we celebrate just getting out there and moving our tails! What is "slow"? "Slow" is a perception but one of the common benchmarks is the 10:00/mi pace; but there's no firm line. In fact, there are many of us that have slipped past this, and just hope that no one notices and revokes their "igloo privileges."  And some penguins don't run at all, we just hang out for the company! It can be confusing for the forum newbies, but we're not one of the teams in any of the fine games. It's a totally open group, so stop lurking, post an introduction of yourself dive in and join the fun! No application necessary! There might even be a lovely picture for Scotty (we love pics!)

I woke to a white world. Just a light dusting of snow, and it seems to be melting fast. Still, it's foggy and gray, so more than a little damp.  I may take a rest day today instead of tomorrow, especially since I'll be going with Jim to a doctor's appointment in a little while. (He's really bad at passing on the details of what the doctors say, and sometimes they matter.)

I had a good 6 mile run yesterday with some faster paced intervals. It was beautiful and sunny, so I'm glad I was outside. Very different from today's gray gloomy skies

      Penguin Power!

Ginny, waking up to snow must have been nice :-)

There's cold rain here all day.  I might go to the gym and try to run some intervals there once I get some errands done.  To be determined.

Morning!  I ran 13 with 5 X 1 @ 10K on the TM this morning with a congested chest.  The cold body aches are gone but the congestion remains.  So far, no big asthma bout and no meds needed.  Watching it all the time just in case.

Ginny, a light dusting sounds good.

          Jill, enjoy the gym.

As part of the 2024 London Marathon, I am fundraising for VICTA, a charity that helps blind and visually impaired children. My mentor while in law school, Jim K (a blind attorney), has been a huge inspiration and an example of courage and perseverance. Please consider donating.

Ginny, hope it was pretty this morning!  Enjoy the RD and good luck to Jim at the dr's.

Jill, hope you have a good day, running or not!

D- Hope you continue to feel better!

PAD- 600m on hills sounds awful!  Good work.

              I'll probably run 1-2 today.

PAD - that sounds like a brutal workout.

D - good job getting the run in despite the congestion. I know, you're used to not being able to breathe.

Jill - I hope you were able to get a run in.

Z - enjoy your streak run.

I ended up running today after all. The sun came out around noon and though it was really windy, it wasn't that cold. Jim's appointment only took about an hour so I had time to enjoy the mix of sun and clouds.  The snow melted off completely.  I ended up with 5.6 at a fairly brisk pace for me.

It was tough but not that bad. It was on the TM .4 @ 5% .3 recovery.
