World Penguin Tuesday (Read 9 times)

PADRunner

The "Penguin" daily threads were originally conceived to emphasize that all members of the community have a place on the boards. Encouragement, motivation, a little love nip (you will love one, give it a try!) or even a little kick in the pants when needed -- it can happen here. Basically, we celebrate just getting out there and moving our tails! What is "slow"? "Slow" is a perception but one of the common benchmarks is the 10:00/mi pace; but there's no firm line. In fact, there are many of us that have slipped past this, and just hope that no one notices and revokes their "igloo privileges."  And some penguins don't run at all, we just hang out for the company! It can be confusing for the forum newbies, but we're not one of the teams in any of the fine games. It's a totally open group, so stop lurking, post an introduction of yourself dive in and join the fun! No application necessary! There might even be a lovely picture for Scotty (we love pics!)

      Barking Mad To Run

Running after work today, but the Texas weather is beginning to warm up now. Will be around 88 degrees when I do my run/walk.   Might have to start switching to morning running pretty soon.

PAD - enjoy your trail run.

Scotty - you have a lot of shady parks at least, so it should feel a little cooler.

We have rain and high winds off and on all day, so I'll do a few miles on the TM later. I had another shot in my shoulder yesterday and it hurts. I hope it doesn't affect my running.

Morning, Penguins!!  It's raining, it's pouring again here today.  Enough that I'm considering buying a new umbrella with a vented construction so that it's easier to handle in the wind.  We'll see.
My new quartet is all set, assuming we sound good together.  First rehearsal is Saturday!

PAD -- woo-hoo for penguins!!  Enjoy your long trail run!!

Scotty -- we have a high of 61 today, but 89 on Saturday.  Crazy spring!  Though we've had enough April showers that the May flowers should be pretty spectacular!  DH is going to have to mow our lawn a couple of times to knock the grass back, though.

Ginny -- sorry about your shot shoulder, but enjoy the TM!!

When it's all said and done, no one remembers how far we have run.  The only thing that matters is how we have loved.

Afternoon!  Busy with training today but will do 9 tonight.

Will do shoutouts after this day's training.

As part of the 2024 London Marathon, I am fundraising for VICTA, a charity that helps blind and visually impaired children. My mentor while in law school, Jim K (a blind attorney), has been a huge inspiration and an example of courage and perseverance. Please consider donating.

Today's trail run. I need to take my other camera out there. The sun in the trees made some great running.

The Yellow trail is about 10 miles total. I ran about 1 1/2 loops -EKG and came back on the white paved trail on top.

Wow, PAD, that looks absolutely beautiful!!

PAD - looks like you have lots of options for making loops. Nice.

HopesMom - I'm glad you've gotten your quartet figured out.  Good luck when you sing together for the first time.

6 miles on the TM: 10 minutes warmup, 10 minutes at MP, 10 at HMP, and 10 at 10k pace, with 2 minutes between each, then the rest of the distance as cool down. I haven't run at 10k pace for a long time.  I wonder if the paces I'm using  (from 2 years ago) even still apply?
