Week 13 Penguins respect our kitties!! (03/28-04/03) (Read 11 times)

Singer who runs a smidge

The "Penguin" daily threads were originally conceived to emphasize that all members of the community have a place on the boards. Encouragement, motivation, a little love nip (you will love one, give it a try!) or even a little kick in the pants when needed -- it can happen here. Basically, we celebrate just getting out there and moving our tails! What is "slow"? "Slow" is a perception but one of the common benchmarks is the 10:00/mi pace; but there's no firm line. In fact, there are many of us that have slipped past this, and just hope that no one notices and revokes their "igloo privileges."  And some penguins don't run at all, we just hang out for the company! It can be confusing for the forum newbies, but we're not one of the teams in any of the fine games. It's a totally open group, so stop lurking, post an introduction of yourself dive in and join the fun! No application necessary!

When it's all said and done, no one remembers how far we have run.  The only thing that matters is how we have loved.

Wow, it's fixing to be April already??  This year is flying by, although when I think of everything that's happened so far this year, I'm surprised it's all been crammed into only three months.  Today is Respect Your Cat Day, so no dressing up the kitties in Yoda ears or anything.  I still reserve the right to call Chewbacca a Tub'O'Goo, though that's not teasing, that's truth-telling.

I've just filled out all the forms to return a couple of bras.  I thought I ordered what I always do, but sadly, I was mistaken.  The ones that came had weird fabric lumps in the front that made it look like I have four nipples, and when I raised my arms above my head, my boobs fell out the bottom.  Back they go.  I did look more closely online and ordered the ones I actually DO always order, so that's good.  I've got two that are falling apart and need to be replaced, so replaced they will be.  That's my grand adventure for the day, until quartet chat at 2:00.  Oh, and I made my Easter cheesecake, which hopefully will taste all right even though the crust was CLEARLY not done.  But in my defense, how are you supposed to tell when a chocolate crust is brown??

Afternoon! I went to PR and back. It was nervewracking as planes and airports were full and Spring Breakers decided PR was the place to be (people there are pissed because they are destroying shit). Anyway, masks are worn all the time there (even outside) and temp checks in every restaurant, hotel, store, etc. I was happy with the measures but still nervous.

My dad's diagnosis is Hodgkins Lymphoma. I saw him twice and both times he was unconscious (his eyes were open on Thursday but backwards and wouldn't react to my voice). I think he is sadly too far gone for treatment as they can't start him on them unless his numbers improved. It's sad.

I ran 2 for the first time in a week. Knee is still not 100% but I had no pain from that run so I'll run tomorrow. Lifting today.

HopesMom, I hate those bras that are hard to wear with certain things.

HM - that sounds more like my bras at the end of their life, when the light padding becomes lumps. I hope your cheesecake turned out all right. You said your folks were coming early, so at least you'll get to find out soon.

D - I'm really sorry you didn't get more time with your Dad. That's not the way you want to remember him. I hope the rest helped your knee pain.

Lots of rain here. Jim and I went for a walk this afternoon and a thunderstorm hit, hard. He can't walk fast and when he tries he loses control, so it wasn't a great walk since he did try to hurry. Our street was a muddy stream, but we made it home without falling, fortunately. I also ran 4 on the TM, before the walk. Since I was already wet, I didn't mind getting rained on, though I did get cold.

Ginny, would it help Jim to have a set of hiking poles?  I've found them to be a godsend if my footing is a little iffy.  And it's nice to be able to concentrate on what's going on around me rather than concentrating so hard on staying upright.

Morning! I have 3 and weights tonight.

Ginny, Thanks. Ugh, glad he didn't fall. Nice 4.

              HopesMom, hi!

Morning, all!!  I'm having a slightly tough time getting going this morning -- it would've been nice to stay in bed and read books all day -- but here I am, doing stuff!!  And much like working out, now that I'm here, I'm glad I'm here.  I got back on my kettlebell horse yesterday, after having taken a lot of last week off due to taking care of DH.  And I brought my stuff in for a lunchtime bike ride, as it's supposed to be sunny and fairly warm today.  Woo-hoo!

Ok, I need to go upload some data, fix something I broke yesterday, and prep for a meeting.

I felt the same when the alarm sounded. Like really? It's 7am? LOL.

                  Weights for me tonight.

HM - sounds like you have a busy day planned. Sorry you didn't get to lie in though.

D - are you still exhausted from your rushed trip?

I woke at 5:00 after falling asleep sometime well after 2:00 and couldn't get back to sleep so today is going to be a very long day. I ran 8.8 before lunch.

I don't think so. I actually have more energy this week. Then again, I've been off the allergy shot for a month or a bit more and there has been a huge difference in how I feel.

Does being off the allergy shot cause your allergies to be worse?  If so, it sounds like a catch-22, feel bad with the shot or feel bad without it!  I hope that's not the case.

I had some weird wrist pain last night which made me think kettlebell swings were not a great idea.  So I did them this morning instead.  Supposed to be rainy all day, and I think I'm on data analysis again.  So it should be a nice quiet day, hooray!

Not sure. Last year I felt like shit but this year so far I've felt good. But the shot was making me into a zombie with low asthma and I got tired of that. I am even sleeping better but not sure if it's do to being off them or what.

I have 4 miles and weights. Ended up with a Barre class yesterday and everything hurts because I'm sore, lol.

Ginny, hoping you got to rest last night.

HopesMom, hope the wrist feels better.

Happy April Fool's Day!!  May all your pranks be harmless, funny, or nonexistent.  I'm voting for nonexistent myself ...

Thursday means it's almost Friday!  My folks will arrive tomorrow, and no, I am definitely not ready for them.  My house is a complete wreck, but I'm working on menu planning for the weekend.  I think I've got things basically worked out for us to eat this weekend.  DH is hoping my dad will help him move fence posts on Saturday, and Mom and I will cook and hang out.  Unless they decide on something they want to do, and then all bets are off, so we'll see!

HM - have a fun visit with your parents.

D - I hope this is a light allergy season for you. Good luck with all your meetings today. Any word on your father's condition?

Rain again this morning. If it snowed, it was gone before I got up. Jim has PT this afternoon so I'll run afterwards if I can, or do tomorrow's rest day today.

Evening! Ran 4 miles at lunch in Winter weather (plus 29mph gusts). It was so nice to go outside and I could've done my LR today (6 miles, lol) if I had more time than I did. I lifted.

My dad is the same. In between death and waking up. His organs are failing little by little, so although his GF can't face it, it's only a matter of time before one of them will fail and he will pass. I hope he does not suffer.

Today it's my Thriday and I tomorrow is my day off so I can't complain.

HopesMom, good luck with your folks.

Ginny, hope you got to run.
