Barking Mad To Run
The "Penguin" daily threads were originally conceived to emphasize that all members of the community have a place on the boards. Encouragement, motivation, a little love nip (you will love one, give it a try!) or even a little kick in the pants when needed -- it can happen here.
Basically, we celebrate just getting out there and moving our tails! What is "slow"? "Slow" is a perception but one of the caommon benchmarks is the 10:00/mi pace; but there's no firm line. In fact, there are many of us that have slipped past this, and just hope that no one notices and revokes their "igloo privileges."
It can be confusing for the forum newbies, but we're not one of the teams in any of the fine games. It's a totally open group, so stop lurking, post an introduction of yourself dive in and join the fun! No application necessary! There might even be a lovely picture for Scotty (we love pics!)

Which doesn't seem to be the case today....everyone sleeping in this morning? WAKE UP!
Today is a rest day for me. I did a run/walk on the Riverwalk after work yesterday. For some reason the Riverwalk was unusually not busy, which made it nice for my running segments. I had planned to do 3 miles but was feeling pretty good and ended up with 5.1 miles. I also got to "race" one of the tourist river boats, lol. I was on the 'quiet' part of the Riverwalk and this boat full of tourists was alongside me in the river. I'd be ahead of it, then take my walk break and the boat would pass me, and then I'd catch back up and pass it during my running segments. The Riverwalk path is quite close to the river, so I heard some of the boat passengers jokingly tell the tour guide driving the boat "That guy keeps passing us, speed up!" lol. This 'race" went on for quite a while, my last 2 miles. My last running segment I sped ahead of the boat and then stopped in the middle of a bridge that crosses over the river. The boat came along and I waved and called out "Thanks for the race, folks! Have a nice evening!" and everyone aboard laughed and applauded, lol, and gave me a wave. Then I walked down to one of my favorite places on the Riverwalk -
where the wait staff all have Great Legs...
.....I gave a pat to the "mascot dog" (ceramic) in the front....
" - and enjoyed a post-run cold lager while sitting on the patio in the 73 degree weather and watching the people and boats along the river. Nice.
on my way to badass

Congrats on beating the tour boat, Scott. Last nice day up here, so I think that calls for a long run, maybe 10?
There was an article in yesterday's WSJ about the 50 State Marathon runners. Why did I think of Docket????
Have a great day, Pengs !!!
Mmmmm...beer
Good morning everyone!
Great "race" Scotty! Mad Dogs looks like a great pub, the "uniforms" remind me of the Tilted Kilt.
MLR later today, probably on the trails.
Hope everyone has a great day!

Hi Pens.
scotty: that sounds like a great run, especially the post run activities.
Awood: the race is in Tucson.
hi everyone.
Some more easy miles for me with two at GMP. I'm just staying loose at this point, training is essentially done. I'm getting antsy and am already packed!
have a good day.
Team TJ
RD for me.
Running for TJ because he can't.
Dad on the run.
Agree with Dtothe2nd looks exactly like Tilted Kilt attire.
Chasing the sub 20 5K.
Morning! It was 19 degrees out this morning when I woke up!
Scotty- Sounds like a fun kind of "race"! I raced my daughter's soccer coach in a golf cart with a dying battery once, and another time I raced the river to try to get a dog toy back at the next landing. Those impropmtu races are fun.
StoneFence- Enjoy the RD!
PAD- Morning! The 1 mile just to warm up for the XT?
Jerry- Enjoy the LR and the good weather! We are sending more cold your way!
D2- Enjoy the trail run! Don't get lost!
Jack- You are so ready! It wouldn't be right to not have a touch of taper madness.
Robert- RD? I thought you were streaking! There's still time to get out there, you know!

PAD - Have a good run and cross training.
Jerry - Have a good run.
Dario - enjoy the trails.
Zelanie - We are going to be 79 here today. I don't want to think about tomorrow though. 39 for a high and an ice storm starting tomorrow night.

I am taking a rest day today. I might get up early tomorrow to get in a run before the nasty weather hits.

Snow snow snow today, but I'm going to get out there for 4. We'll see what the path looks like. Might be time for an inaugural Yak Trax Runs run.
