Great race! How much fun to be in the lead on an out and back. I bet knowing that other runner was back there helped too.
Looking forward to reading that sub-20 RR soon!

Congrats Dan!

Thanks running marko.
Baboon - Winning was a lot of fun. I didn't have to compete with any high schoolers because the race was on Friday at 3 PM. I think that helped.
So_Im_a_Runner - Thanks.
Sparker1606 - I am going to get some laughs when the pictures come out.
scottydawg - I hope everything is going well.
B-Plus - I get used to a certain level of "suffering" in mile 1. If I start out slower, then I can't hit the same level of suffering mentally. It helps me to start suffering sooner rather than later and I tend to run faster in miles 2 and 3.
Zelanie - After I turned around, I counted in my head to see how big my lead was. It was a nice mental boast on the way back to see all the other runners behind me.
Thanks Jon.
Personal Bests:
800M - 2:38 (5/28/13) | 1 Mile -5:54 (5/28/13) | 3K - 11:55 (12/29/12) | 2M - 13:00 (12/1/12) | 5K - 20:00 (4/12/13) | 13.1M - 1:37:24 (2/3/13)
Congrats on the win, Dan.
Serious runners never wear long sleeves or knee length shorts, good call on going sans shirt and scaring everyone. ;p
Interested, do you think that the nearest competitor could have hung around if you hadn't blazed out of the gate?
Wow, 20-flat? Congrats on the win. I used to love that strategy of starting like a bat outta hell and then hanging on for dear life. I'm not sure what's best for me though, I'll need to experiment some more.
I used to race like that as well, not sure that I ever will again though.
Congrats on the win and PR Dan! 20:00 flat has a nice ring to it!
Don't call me Buttercup!
Now more than ever, I need the little bowing guy from RWOL. You are so awesome! =)
Slow and steady wins the.... wait a second! I've been lied to!
Shirfan - If I didn't blaze out so fast, then I wouldn't have won. It took a PR to win. The only way I could PR was to run my race.
LRB - Thanks. Some of us do better with positive splits and others negative.
Thanks Di. You are awesome too.
Here is a finish line photo.
Oops, I missed this the first time. Congrats!

Nice picture. Except the words Overal Male winner should've been in red instead of green.
Wow, congrats on the the overall victory and the sweet time. I would have died in the heat.
Nice job.
2013 goals: 800m: 2:20 | mile: 4:59 | 5k: 18:59 | 10k: 39:59 | HM: 1:32 | Marathon: 3:20
Thanks all.
I must remember to run right through the middle next time. I am off center. I also need to not worry about stopping my watch right after I finish. I am going to have to frame a copy of this picture since I did not get a medal or trophy.
I am just glad they took it right before I reached up to my hat and threw down in disgust for not going sub-20.
Where are the people? My finish lines are full of people, especially if you win! You kind of look like you're looking for where did everybody go? Good picture though.
