Week 39 Penguins are lumberjacks and we're ok! (09/26-10/02) (Read 3 times)

Singer who runs a smidge

The "Penguin" daily threads were originally conceived to emphasize that all members of the community have a place on the boards. Encouragement, motivation, a little love nip (you will love one, give it a try!) or even a little kick in the pants when needed -- it can happen here. Basically, we celebrate just getting out there and moving our tails! What is "slow"? "Slow" is a perception but one of the common benchmarks is the 10:00/mi pace; but there's no firm line. In fact, there are many of us that have slipped past this, and just hope that no one notices and revokes their "igloo privileges."  And some penguins don't run at all, we just hang out for the company! It can be confusing for the forum newbies, but we're not one of the teams in any of the fine games. It's a totally open group, so stop lurking, post an introduction of yourself dive in and join the fun! No application necessary!

When it's all said and done, no one remembers how far we have run.  The only thing that matters is how we have loved.

Today is Lumberjack Day, so if you happen to know a lumberjack, give them a hug and buy them a cup of coffee!  I don't know any lumberjacks, so I'm just assuming they might like coffee.  If not, maybe hot chocolate?

Anyway, it's been another busy week -- I left a little late on Friday and had to use my special codes to get out of the warehouse without setting off the alarm!  Lots to do, lots more to do, it's another normal week for me.

Happy anniversary, D!  DH and I just celebrated 19 last month.  I'm turning 49 on Tuesday, not really expecting anything special for my birthday.  DH thought it was Friday and gave me an anniversary card (he'd lost the anniversary card on our anniversary, so he gave me a birthday card then), and then tried to send me out to buy my own birthday cake Friday after work.  When I realized what was going on, I reminded him my birthday wasn't until Tuesday, so he'll pick up my cake on Tuesday.  Maybe.  Unless he forgets!

Chorus and quartet are both meeting in-person.  Chorus sings through masks, per the policy of the church where we practice.  Quartet doesn't use masks, as we're all vaccinated and I'm the only one of us who's not retired and therefore out in the world.  It's good to sing again!  Church choir has started back as well, outside unmasked unless the weather is bad, and then inside masked.  Which reminds me, I need to take my headlamp on Wednesday, because when it gets dark it's hard to see the notes and words!

Lotsa barbershop going on this week -- there was a regional online education thing this weekend, and all this week there will be an educational thing put on by another region.  Classes every night from 7-8.  Woo-hoo!!

When it's all said and done, no one remembers how far we have run.  The only thing that matters is how we have loved.

Afternoon! I turned 46 on Monday and same. I was too busy to even want to do anything, sigh. Happy Anniversary and happy birthday in advance!!!!

I ran 13 after two days of doing nothing because between my special project this week and other stressors, I was exhausted (mentally and physically). Ended up deferring Chicago.

As part of the 2024 London Marathon, I am fundraising for VICTA, a charity that helps blind and visually impaired children. My mentor while in law school, Jim K (a blind attorney), has been a huge inspiration and an example of courage and perseverance. Please consider donating.

D - I hope you got to celebrate this weekend, now that the review is finished.

HM - Happy Birthday and Anniversary. I hope your husband remembers to get the cake. Nice to have all the music back in your life.
