SunDAILIES Don't Eat the Green Snow... (Read 50 times)

BruceD555

emo-yes WELCOME TO THE DAILIES THREAD!

Anyone and everyone can post your runs, cross-training, abdominal work, rest days, race plans, training questions, etc. The only stupid question is the one you did not post. There’s a great mix of beginners and veterans, runners and walkers, and maniacs and returners (from injury, to running, to RWOL). We're all a little crazy here too! While this thread is a terrific source of motivation for runners and serves as outstanding accountability, you’ll quickly find this remarkable group to be highly supportive of all life experiences. So, come on in, put your feet up and stay awhile (not literally)! And whoever is up first is welcome to start the thread and we definitely keep some weird hours around here.

    Train smart ... race smarter.

Well, I was up and I couldn't find the Dailies so I might have just started them for St. Patrick's Day. Hope everyone has a great day planned, whether it's a SRD, a LR or cross training. I'll work in my LR this afternoon sometime and may even catch a quick nap after church before lacing up for the run.

      Train smart ... race smarter.

Good morning Bruce. Another busy day and sore from yesterdays cardio kickboxing.

Boy Scout pancake and sausage breakfast, I think I'll pass on the all you can eat part.

Then hanging out with DD, SIL and DW then 7 miles this afternoon maybe after the hot tub.

          Morning all!

Popping in for a quick minute.

Despite all the turmoil this week I still managed 49 miles on the road and 2 swim clinics and 2 other straight

lap swims for a total of 4.5  hours in the water.

Because of an Ireland trip get together today we had to do swim clinic yesterday morning @ 7:15 and then

follow up by doing what should have been today's long run.

I had planned on 17 but it became apparent that being 51 years old and finishing up a week like that doing  a

hard swim class followed  up by a long run that 17 good miles wasn't going to happen. I still managed 14.5,

with the 21.1 k time being 2:20 as  compared to last weekends 2:10.  So not bad considering.

But in the future I'm going to try avoid that scenario if at all possible.Roll eyes

Have a good weekend, see you in a few days!

          Ball of Fury

Well, I have finally figured out the secret to really slowing down my recovery runs!  Here is what you do:  You run your long run on a Saturday, and then instead of hydrating and re-fueling properly, you head to the casino and start drinking around 2 PM.  You also stuff yourself with BBQ and fries.  You then continue drinking and gambling for around 6 hours.  You then head home, and go ahead and pick up a Baconator Junior (at least it was the junior) and fries from Wendy's and eat that too.  You then get up at 4:30 AM to do your run because you have to be at work at 7:30 for 12 hours....that's how it's done.  But, hey, I did get in 5 painful, pathetic miles @ 10:18/mile so there!  It is supposed to snow here today, which is just a bummer, because seriously, it got up to 63 yesterday!!  Have a fabulous day everyone....Happy St. Paddy's Day!

Bruce:  Have a great day at church and then enjoy your LR!

Sparker:  That sounds like a great Sunday...enjoy!

            Beth:  You rock...seriously!

Morning & Happy St. Patty's to everyone!

Seems to be a bit of a late start here, maybe because it's Sunday, maybe because all yesterday's racers celebrated with a bit too much post-race green beer. Plan a LR today, currently 21/feels like 10, so will at least wait till late morning when it warms up a tiny bit. Looked outside & fortunately the roads look pretty clear, so hopefully shouldn't have to deal with too much slippery mess on the ground.

Bruce, you know you CAN take it easy today after yesterday's adventure! But enjoy the LR anyway. And the nap.

Sparker, use your new skills to go out & kick some ass. And go ahead & carb up on some pancakes.

Flarunner, good job getting all those miles in so early. (Have not seen a post yet, but just assuming because it's like clockwork!)

              Have a great day everyone!

              Dave

Ami, excellent training advice, you should write a book. Actually now you know what exercise feels like to the average American, and why most don't want to do any.

B.S., well done under the circumstances, and here are some words of wisdom for your trip:

Good Morning, Dailies, and happy Saint Patricks' Day!

Bruce - enjoy whatever you do. Naps are great, BTW. I do them a lot.

Sparker - enjoy your family time, and your 7 miles!

Beth - 14.5 is nothing to sneeze at - nice long run, and only 1/2 mile shorter than my longest run ever! EVER!!

Ami - I'll have to try your method. I settled for the huge hunk 'O corned beef, boiled potatoes, and cabbage for dinner yesterday. Followed by a small glass of Chattanooga Whiskey on ice with a pinch of water. And a beer. Not exactly the athlete's dinner, but it was relaxing after a day's work.

Dave - hope it warms up for your long run. Watch your footing.

Me - plenty of yard work planned for this afternoon, but I think I'm also going to squeeze in a 3.5-4 mile recovery run. I've raced the last two weekends, fairly successfully (for me), so I think I've earned a couple of easy runs. Legs are feeling good today despite the hard 5K yesterday.

Dave, that is hilarious!! Gotta go find something green to wear today. Good day for planning a trip

                    to Ireland for sure!

I think my Aunt will be getting up in a few minutes. But here is a little of what has been going on this

                    week.

My Aunt can't figure out how to use the TV or the cell phone so I have to change channels, can't do her own

laundry or bathing, dial and answer all her phone calls, can't do the stairs alone and won't eat unless I

prepare something and sit down with her. Plus we need to clean out her apartment this week and take care

of all her banking and personal business. Needless to say it doesn't leave much time for anything else. I am

still managing my workouts by doing them when she is napping or having my hubby here to watch out for

                    her.

She is OK during the day for a while, such as today. She will sit and watch TV but can't change the channel

when something comes on she doesn't like.Smile

Thanks Tom! But I'm only 10 weeks out from a marathon and I hate to cut any run short at this point. But

                    you gotta do........

Top o' the mornin' to ya, lads and lasses:

Bruce - have a nice nap and LR

Sparker - hope the breakfast is ok with your run later

Beth - great run.  Leave the TV on Jersey Shore or something similar, and she will figure out how to change the channel.

AmiK - ouch.  But you still ran, which is quite a feat after such an interesting schedule

DaveP - hope the roads stay clear for you

Tom - jealous of your yardwork.  Mine still consists of "Look out window. Yard snowy.  Carry on."

10.4 last night, 7:52 pace, LR today with some portion at MP.  Maybe some corned beef later on, but definitely avoiding the amateur drinkers that will plague downtown all day.

Love the advice for Beth....that could backfire, however, and dear Aunt might start getting her GTL on!  In all seriousness, Beth, I think what you are doing is awesome!

10 miles for me today.  A new distance PR, and my first ever double digit run!  1:49:10 total time, average pace 10:55/mile.  I'll take it.  I'm a happy girl! Big grin

                          Do you even run?

Good morning Dailies.  I got in 8.2 miles this morning.  This puts me just over 200 miles for the year...105 farther than this time last year.

Nice job, Kay!  I hit that milestone a few short weeks ago and can still remember it like it was just yesterday!  Keep up the hard work!
