Week of 6/8 (Read 332 times)

Got home at 1 am and I'm exhausted. Race report posted. I think I'm going back to bed before going out for my run later!

Your toughness is made up of equal parts persistence and experience. You don't so much outrun your opponents as outlast and outsmart them, and the toughest opponent of all is the one inside your head." - Joe Henderson

    Dave

      Great race and report, Pam.

4.4 for me this morning in the heat and humidity.  Not terribly hot but steamy.

Running with a fast guy tomorrow for one last run in downtown DC.  Should be a 6 mile tempo tomorrow.

I ran a mile and I liked it, liked it, liked it.

Thanks Dave! Way to get out in the heat/humidity to get a run in.

I however went back to bed after kids left for school and slept until noon *blush*

Here are a few pictures from marathon day!

        Hail to The Victors!

Thanks Dave! Way to get out in the heat/humidity to get a run in.

I wish I could have done that today.  Up way too late last night.    Nice pics!  Looks like you had a GREAT time!

12.7 today after a forced day off yesterday due to spending all day in the server room.  Nothing like a room fool of fans and cold air and blinking lights to make you relaxed.  Sheesh.

            and a couple finishing photo's

I guess we're all a little in the early summer doldrums but if you're planning a September marathon, those 20 week training plans start this week.  Even if you're planning on a November marathon, you're in the 6 week base building phase before starting your marathon training plan proper.

Thanks for the summary, Dave!  I haven't read the rest of the thead today so I don't know if anyone else mentioned this but my oct marathon is 16 weeks from this Sunday, so your 20 week / sept calculation is off by a few weeks.

Nice pictures, Pam! How come you wear your sunglasses inside? And how do you grab those proof photos off the race site? I can't ever figure out how to do that.

Good job on running in the heat, Kimmie! That's way too hot for me, I'd be walking for sure!

Congratulations on your new friend, Cash! What kind is she? My dog (and all my cats) are from the shelter. Never got a bad critter from the shelter...

Gotta go back and read the summary... somehow I missed that.

10.2 miles tonight, I ran home from work. I cheated though and when I came to the bottom of my road I just kept going straight. Just couldn't face the 2.25 mile uphill trek. So I went out a ways and hit mile 9 just as I turned up my road. One mile of that was better than a little over 2.  I tried to not really watch pace, but that always makes me feel like I'm going too slow... too slow for what? I wanted to get home! I was tired and hungry and got really thirsty on this run. I stopped at my parents house at 3 miles and got a drink. Stopped a couple more times to talk to a friend, pet a horse, say hi to a friend who has a plant nursery nearby (her stuff is looking really good, might have to go get more!), and a friend on her bike--this gal does tris and her kids are always winning bike races and tris around here. Anyway, I took lots of stop breaks to catch my breath and ask above friends if they had water (none of them did), and I turned off my Garmin on these breaks so it is sort of cheating. Oh well. I had a good time, and that was a very nice horse.

Oh... Dave... Bryan (with a y) is P2R... Brian is the one having the baby. Just thought I'd throw that out there.
                  Kimmie

Pam-  Great race report and pictures!   Your kids are too cute.  I love how you described the course and the volunteers sounded so fun.  How funny that they wanted to escort you after the finish for everything.

                    Dave- Like the summary-

How are you feeling about your move?  That's great that you get to run fast today in DC.  We're far enough out that I only run DC for races... such a great city to run in.  Do you know if you'll get back this way from time to time?

Jeremy-  nice run- 12 miles?  that's awesome.  DH sometimes spends hours in a server room...  don't know how you do it.

Lou, Bugs, Pace, Paul, Cash, Mr. I, Murphy- how you doin?

Erika- love the description of your run... sounds like you have a fun route and tons of friends!  Smile  I'm not surprised.

Ran 3 easy with a client this morning... hope to get more in later today.

                    Dave

                      I told you I wasn't plugged in

I'm mentally ready to get the move over with.  Excited about the new job.  Its going to be really challenging but very rewarding as well.

I will be back in DC pretty frequently, probably at least every two months or so.  Also will be travelling overseas some to areas where I can't run.  DW not so excited about that.

I ran a mile and I liked it, liked it, liked it.

                      dgb2n@yahoo.com

Given I've screwed up my chances of running with you, Dave, before you leave, I hope we can get together when you come back into town.

                        I love the pictures, Pam!

I didn't walk this morning -- some pain is there in the high glute area (both sides).  Not sure if this is nerve or muscle so I'm giving it a day to calm down.  Plus I needed some more sleep (which if I was running would have not mattered one bit, of course).

Lou, the walking, especially fast, uses different muscles and/or muscle movement so that fast walking you did yesterday might just be a little DOMS from the different activity. But keep a watch on it. And a little rest is probably a good thing, you were talking about being tired just a few days ago...

                            Thanks guys!

Erika, I'm just weird that way lol. Probably thought if I put them on the top of my head I'd forget they were there (happened too many times lol) As for the photo's I take a screen shot then use microsoft office picture manager Smile

Anyway looks like my 25 day streak may be over. Two days in a row I went back to bed after twins left for school and slept until noon. Today however I woke up with a headach,  feeling like crap and running a low grade fever. Shouldn't be suprised. The trip took alot out of me and if I was still there I'd still be going strong.,however I'm  home  so boom. I've learned to listen to my body so no run today. Hopefully with enough rest it will just be today.

Ughhhhhh I feel like throwing up Sad

I had a feeling it was something like this -- I'd forget I put them on my head, too, and end up with scratched lenses after I knocked them off my head Smile

Thanks, this is what I was thinking, too.  I will probably slow down a bit, and may even try to convince PDR to walk with me given she's on the DL, too (knee issue).  She doesn't want to walk at 12mm or maybe not even 13mm, so we'll see...  Smile
