1.55 miles in 20:28. My heart rate for first mile (of the MAF test) was 128, then 129, and finally 130.

I think BOTH temp and dewpoint  has to be considered.

in my case, there can be low-ish dewpoint but high temp, meaning dry hot weather, and this will affect my performance more than higher dewpoint in lower temp, meaning humid but not THAT hot weather. but maybe someone else is more affected by very humid weather.

and I did not mention the obvious part: same temp but higher DP will definitely be more load on your body, affecting performance more.

the other thing I'd like to say is maybe you're ready for an anaerobic phase. your marathon is coming up, could be a good idea to get the legs going to get them used to faster paces, marathon pace and faster than marathon pace, but I would not recommend going past LT pace for your goals in your current fitness state except for short strides (that won't build anaerobic byproducts in short time). by fitness state I mean, pros or other aerobigods may get away with totally anaerobic, meaning past LT stuff, even when preparing for marathon. Smile

yet another thing, I do recall that you tried a marathon pace run just recently. maybe too much training load if you don't cut back on mileage.

or... all this could be just an anomaly day (as jimmyb would say)! Smile

I'd say repeat test next week..

good luck to your training Smile

I am hoping the results are an anomaly... just an off day.

I've been doing some anaerobic (below LT) training... about 10% of my weekly mileage... for the last three weeks.

I will continue that with the race coming up.

I will also do another test next week -- I suspect I've plateaued for the time being :: shrug ::

I think we can say 8/16 was an aberation.

So was your spelling of aberration. Cool

I believe in the mutation of language, so not a problem in my mind.

                          Keep going, Tenn. Doing awsum!
