Got in several nice runs in Washington DC this week.  Really neat jogging by the White House, Capitol and all the Monuments along the Mall.

Also some nice temperatures and dropping 3,000' of elevation didn't hurt my average pace at all!  Wink

Sunday AM 6.44 miles, 10:23 avg pace, 137 avg HR.

Monday PM 4.73 miles, 10:29 avg pace, 141 avg HR.  (I think I should add 5 bpm for runs right after supper)

Tuesday PM 5.33 miles, 10:32 avg pace, 142 avg HR.  (another after supper run)

Wednesday AM 4.91 miles, 9:17 avg pace, 154 avg HR.  (Half Mile Intervals)

This morning 3.66 miles, 10:34 avg pace, 131 avg HR.  (45 seconds waiting at a light hurt my avg pace but lowered my avg HR).

Really enjoying adding the once a week harder workout, it seems like it drops my HR the very next workout, but that's based on a whopping two workouts.

At the airport heading home now, gaining 3,000' of elevation probably isn't going help my pace when I get back home for a few days at least.

My HR seems to drop the next workout for me as well whenever I do a hard interval session.....Not quite sure why that happens, but the faster pace is nice!

6.10 miles, 10:31 avg pace, 139 avg HR.

Back home. Very different than DC! No traffic signals, didn't see a single car, no people out jogging, no homeless people, no jet planes roaring overhead, no buses, sirens, honking, etc. Quiet! Nice morning, 68 degrees, 88% humidity, DP 65, wind S at 7 mph. Gained 3,000' of elevation over where I spent the last 5 days, but it didn't seem to affect things too much, a little mud on the roads as well. Last weekday morning MAF run for a while, school starts Monday and I'll be dropping my son off at school weekday mornings. Good run.

6am, 10.92 miles, 121 bpm.  Pace a little slower than last time I ran this route nearly a year ago, however great HR control and fun run.

Ran first 45minutes at or below 114, slowly built to 118 for next 30-40 minutes and finally into the low 120s.  SLow and relaxing.

Temperature dropped and it felt good to be out in the low - mid 60s, however very humid (88%+)  Dripping wet at end of run.

11.17 miles on Saturday morning.  10:44 avg pace and got a bit high on my HR with a 146 avg.  Started later than normal and the sun was a killer even though the temperature only got to 75.

4.56 miles Sunday evening.  10:41 avg pace and 136 avg HR.  Not bad for 83 degrees and 55% humidity.

Hit 100 miles for the month this weekend giving me at least 100 miles for the 6th straight month!  Ended up with 40.5 miles for the week which I think is a new high for me as well.  Also broke the 215 barrier on my weight which used to be my goal weight.  I've adjusted my goal down to 205 and if I work at it I should be there by the end of the year.

Thanks guys.  I really am starting to feel like I'm improving.

I should probably start another thread instead of posting here, but not sure it matters with 400+ pages of posts already on this thread.

Had a really good evening MAF run on Tuesday.  6.05 miles, 10:47 avg pace and 138 avg HR.  79 degrees when I finished.

Did a Tempo run last night and felt really good about it.  Overall ended up with 8:58 avg pace with a 158 avg HR, but on my 4 mile Tempo section my splits were 8:23, 8:22, 8:18 and 8:05.  It was 80 degrees when I finished and my HR never got over 180 even at the end of the 4 mile Tempo section which was uphill a little bit.  Still not sure I'm doing my Tempo runs correctly, I probably pushed it too hard on the 4th mile, but I messed up putting the intervals in my phone so it was telling me the avg pace for the last 3 mile instead of for the last mile and I didn't realize I was running it quite that fast.  Before that I was keeping my HR under 170 on the first 3 miles, but it was climbing about 5 beats on the avg each mile.  Pretty interesting looking at the graph.

I seem to be staying with the same morning loop however mixed things up and ran in the opposite direction.  Starting all runs at or below 114 for the first 20 minutes and then slowly build to 118range and finally keep it slow and easy in the mid 120s.

Wife took our son to school this morning so I was able to get in a run.  Beautiful morning! 59 degrees, 61% humidity, DP 46, wind NNW at 5 mph. Got a good pace going and had a hard time slowing down when my HR started going up during the run. Still didn't get too bad but a few beats higher than my target.

Beat my mileage PR from July with this mornings run.  Had 130.9 miles for July and hit 132.2 miles for August this morning.

Neat run on the trail, zero cars in 12 miles. 80 degrees, 74% humidity, DP 71, wind S at 9 mph. Plenty warm and humid. Still getting some false spikes on my HRM, but it did get a little high. Good workout!
