Walk This Way...this way

    Hi all,
Sweltering temps continue throughout the mid-west and elsewhere.

MAF-like runs remain the goal, but for this pupil, significant heart
rate spikes have been common, even while walking.

Now, more than ever, satisfaction comes about through

spirituality of the experience. No regrets here!

    Enjoy the journey!

Ended my 15 consecutive day running streak to get some work done down on my hunting property.

Spent 11 hours working in up to 105 degree temperatures putting in fence and working on an irrigation line.  Consumed over 2 gallons of liquids (16+ lbs) and didn't pee once.  Weighed when I got home and I had lost 7lbs.

Not sure how to log that on my MAF schedule, but it was one heck of a workout.  I'm going to skip my long run this weekend and just get in 3 easy miles this evening.

So I lied a little.  Ended up doing 5 instead of 3 tonight.

5.05 miles, 11:27 avg pace, 137 avg HR.

Sunset run here at the house. Longest run so far in my Innov8's. Beautiful evening and sunset although I didn't get a picture of it.  Flushed a covey of about a dozen quail at the post.  88 degrees, 29% humidity, DP 52. SSW wind at 7 per the weather, but felt pretty calm out there to me. Static issues with the HRM right at the start, probably added a beat or 2 to my avg. Good run.

        Walk This Way...this way

          Hi,

Abduction by extraterrestrial spaceship aliens and
          Spontaneous Human Combustion (SHC)

          http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spontaneous_human_combustion

seem to have about the same likelihood of occurrence.
          The odds remain quite slim.
Prophylactic measures like staying well hydrated
and running within yourself are indicated.
Ponder, if you will.. just don't let it consume you.

Yesterday at 6:53 pm it was 102.8 f., yet only 22 percent humidity,
and a lowish 57 f. dew point, so the "feel like" temp was closer to 98 f.
I risked a slow but lengthy walk. Sweated considerably, but at no
point did I feel in any real danger.

104 f., possibly higher, is forecast for today.
A late night run in the countryside is my plan.
          Who's got my back?

75 degrees, 50% humidity, DP 56, South wind at 15 mph.  Based on my splits and wind direction can you guess which direction I ran for the first 2 miles and which direction I ran the last 2 miles?

Not sure where that 147 spike HR came on mile 4, looking at the graph I can only find a 141.  This was probably one of my most consistent HR runs in a while, I really struggle keeping a slow pace on the way back to the house most of the time.

Last run on my 6 mile MAF route for July.  HRM was whacked this morning though.

6.03 miles, 11:05 avg pace, 142 avg HR.

Beautiful morning! 66 degrees, 88% humidity, DP 63, very light breeze NW at 3 mph. Something seemed whacked with my HRM this morning. Didn't seem to match my perceived effort and went nuts there about the 5 mile mark. Avg pace 11:05, avg HR 142 but that seems several beats higher than I think it really was. Still a good run though!

Not sure if it could be running low on batteries or what.  I took my shirt off at the 5 mile mark thinking it was static or something and that helped for a little, but it still had several big spikes that didn't match up to my perceived effort at all.
