Speed and body fat questions! (Read 24 times)

    Hello,

     

    I’ve signed up for my first marathon at the end of February. I did a half this weekend. I’d hoped I’d be a little bit faster than I was: 1:53. I’m doing some speed work in training, but I think I need to focus on trying to sustain longer tempo runs, rather than intervals. How much have you found your half marathon time improve while training for the marathon distance? I was hoping to aim for 3:50 in the marathon in February but maybe that’s looking a bit unlikely. Unless I can do a lot of work over the next few months!

     

    Final question....body fat. I’m small (5’2 or 156cm) and 54kg. Do any of you have any experience of dropping say 2 or 3kgs and how if affected your speed and training?
