    Mornin' everyone.

    Saturday's satavarte workouts:

    RunnerKSA (3.7 Pocono recovery miles)

Tramps (a little shy of 5 miles)

Henrun (short bike ride on the trafficky roads)

CMDan (3K with humidity and lots 'o windage in 13:28 with even splits)

dg. 4.35 'good patient' morning miles with windage and hillage)

    Dave (good 5K)

Spacityrunner (3.1 way-too-early, slow chatty miles with the running club)

Holly (4.1 TM morning miles with T'storms outside)

    Evanflein (7.1 feeling good miles)

    Stumpy (tough morning 6 miles)

Mariposai (5 tough [asthma] miles with the EP)

Be safe with those wacko MA drivers, Henrun.

Nice job in your 3K, Dan! You too in your 5K, Dave!

Good day for a rest day, Pfriese.

Keep scanning, dg, and I hope you get good tweaks.

Nice score on the $7 buffet, Spacityrunner.

I'm so sorry about the bone density results, Deeze - clearly not what you were hoping for. Yes, now to find out what it all means. I'll keep thinking positive thoughts for you.

Congrats on meeting your weekend goals, Holly - not surprised. Good luck with today's goals too.

I hope you hit your 200, Evanflein.

Gotta watch that warm weather sneaking in, Stumpy.

Congrats on another successful OIB Half, Mariposai! I can't wait to read the details.

We took our weekend company to the famous Nubble lighthouse in ME yesterday, and then to the Peabody-Essex Museum (for a wild wearable art exhibit) and a nice outdoor lunch and walk-around in Salem, MA, and then came home and made dinner and went out for ice cream to top off the day. Unfortunately, DW found out one of her sisters (in GA) and her DH were in a serious car crash yesterday, and have some serious (not life-threatening) injuries. We're waiting to hear details from their son who flew down from PA early this morning.

6.25 more EZ walking miles this morning - trying to keep up my basic fitness, if not form/speed.

    Have a greta Sunday!

    Jay

Without ice cream there would be darkness and chaos.

Oh no, Jay!  I'm so sorry about your wife's sister and her husband.  I hope you get some positive news.

166 miles for April, which is about as high as I go- even with only a 30 day month!

4.5 miles this morning.  Very peaceful but cloudy.  I usually see a lot of deer around here in the Poconos, but haven't this time.  I guess they are hiding from my blazing speed as I zoom by.

Out there running since dinosaurs roamed the earth

Jay, I hope your wife's family recovers quickly. That's not news we want to hear about our loved ones.

I have been under the weather this week. I have a chest cold. Not my worst cold ever but it has kicked me in the teeth this week. So my running has suffered especially yesterday's hm trail race. So today I only ran 1 mile on the tm which felt harder than it should. I am going to take it easy for a couple more days (just my cute little one milers) until maybe Wednesday and try to recover enough to resume training.

          For you know who.

Deez--hope you get some encouragement from your doc talk on Monday.  Hang in there.

dg--listening to your PT sounds like a good idea.

Paul--your grandson's right; that is hilarious.

Stumpy--those early warm runs are rough (see below)

Jay--sorry to hear about the accident.  Hope recovery goes quickly for them.

Mari--too bad the asthma's been such an issue lately.

          Lori--hope you feel better soon.

I'm assuming racers will provide more details on the race thread. Hope Paul's doing well.

Train wreck of a 13-miler for me today.  Warm and humid and I didn't adjust acoordingly.  Lessons (re)learned about early H&H runs: 1) slow the #$%@ down and 2) hydrate like crazy.  I did neither, overheated, and had to walk it in. I realized I was in trouble when I stopped sweating. Uh oh.

          Also, hockey is stupid.

          Be safe. Be kind.

Just a quick post today, race report a bit later.

OKC Memorial Marathon done in 3:47:43 by my Garmin. That's a BQ for 2018. Big grin

Doug, I still think we should look for a local race to share sometime this summer.   ...   or fall.    or,  next spring ...

Agreed! Dave's picture on FB the other day of his son in a military graduation uniform made me realize how many years I've known the AA crowd. I recall seeing him when we went over to Dave's house after one of those "open track night" events at the local high school. Now we just have to figure out when & where, which might not be easy. I'll send you an email with some thoughts, although we're in the packing stage for a trip this week, so it might have to wait (you could always come out to Omaha for the 5K next Saturday).

Deez, make sure you read up on this subject and get good advice. My DW had this diagnosis a while back, but has avoided things like calcium supplements due to various side effects and lack of evidence of effectiveness, at least in her opinion. The fact is that probably everyone with a slim/slight build is going to eventually be diagnosable with some form of osteoporosis. Shoot, I've probably got a touch of it myself at my age.

Forgot what workouts I have and haven't posted this week, so I'll just let it go at that except to say that the weather hasn't been conducive to my usual schedule.

4x1200 VO2 max intervals, with warmup and cool down, about 9.5 total.

It is 90+ today so after getting home from church I am just sitting in my air conditioned home. I'm in my La-z-boy alternating between reading about the meaning of life (Making Sense of God by Timothy Keller), reading a novel (Zero Day by David Baldacci), and watching sports (Premier League Soccer & in a few minutes, hockey).

Every once in a while my butt gets sore from sitting, so I walk into the kitchen and grab a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup out of the fridge.

Jay - Hope your DW's sister and husband recover well - very scary.

15.2 miles for me today in 63-72 degrees.  Afterward. DH's best efforts could not get the rototiller started, so I tilled my garden the old-fashioned way, with a shovel and a rake.  Two hours later, I had my spinach, kale, carrots and a few purple potatoes planted.   Then, after a shower and a half-hour nap, I met a friend at the driving range and spent an hour or so hitting golf balls.  Then, ran DD around to pick up lacrosse friends and gear and hit the HS for practice, stopped at a garden center to buy some annuals, visited my stepdad, picked up DD and ran her somewhere else, and came home to make bean soup with ham.

                          I am pooped.

Hoping none of this aggravates my back/flank sore muscle, which is otherwise almost healed, but it didn't hurt during the activities, so I am hoping for the best.

Rosie the Puppy, btw, is doing great.  She us currently doing fierce battle with one of my slippers...  I am keeping her at home until she gets her second Parvo vaccine on Friday, then she can come along on a walk with Dexter and explore the neighborhood a bit.

Life is a headlong rush into the unknown. We can hunker down and hope nothing hits us or we can stand tall, lean into the wind and say, "Bring it on, darlin', and don't be stingy with the jalapenos."

Don't over do it there, Dave. But really, 90 in April seems a little much.

Holly, I'm exhausted reading about your day!

Jay, hope your SIL and her DH are ok. Sure is a reminder that life can change in an instant. What a down way to end an otherwise really nice day.

Lori, we've missed you. You're running Bayshore, right? Is that the last Saturday in May? I think that's the schedule, of course I could look it up... just remember to not push it. You've got a ton of 20 milers in the bank so you are probably ready, just need to be healthy!

We had our driveway resurfaced about 18 months ago, and our road had new material added to it last fall. We had someone remove our driveway hardpack with a loader earlier this month and he scraped up a bunch of our very expensive material and dumped it on the lawn, in the ditch and in the flower beds on the side of the driveway. And he scraped up all my perennials and my flower bed at the bottom near the road. I was livid, and now I'm just sad as all that hard work is gone. I threw my juniper bush in the burn pile yesterday, and found all the rocks that used to surround the iris patches (big chunks of quartz and other pretty rocks). I'm sure the flowers are gone, or they'll come up in some odd places. Anyway, the road crew also got a little ambitious with their plowing, and a lot of the new road material is in the ditches or up on our banks. Just incredibly clumsy sloppy work. So, all this to say, I spent some time scraping and raking up rocks and road material into a shovel, and dumping it back on the road or the driveway in low spots (ha, didn't used to have low spots) and where water was puddling. About 45 minutes of that and my back was toast. I think that was a factor in some low back pain on my run today.

14.1 miles today that felt hard from the start. I was thinking about that yesterday as my run was feeling pretty good, I figured I'd "pay for it" today and that seemed to be the case. Of course, the work I did in the driveway after my run yesterday probably didn't help, especially my back. Lots of stops in the last 5 miles to stretch, and I probably should've stopped at 11 but I wanted a 200 mile month. Got it.

                            spacityrunner

Aw E.thats just sloppy and mean.  Sorry for the unnecessary destruction.

3.6 easy peasy miles along the balboa spillway trail.  the spillway was roaring after last nights violent storms.  Lots of rain, wind, thunder and lightening.  For hours and hours.  Still windy today. 15-20 mph winds had me thinking I was standing still during parts of my run.  Always a fun sensation.

My cat Gabbi passed over the rainbow bridge yesterday.  The sadness has settled in.
