Marathon Maniac #957
For those of you who are new, this is the 40/40 thread, for people who are over 40 years old who run 40 miles/week or more. We give Free Passes to those who come really close or try really hard...
Here’s what I have for last week’s tally.

Life is a headlong rush into the unknown. We can hunker down and hope nothing hits us or we can stand tall, lean into the wind and say, "Bring it on, darlin', and don't be stingy with the jalapenos."

4 miles
Start of my Three-day, Ten-K, Turkey Trot Taper. Coworker insisted on running 5 at a pace way faster than I would have preferred for being in "taper" mode.
Going to do four easy miles and then ROAD TRIP, New Hampshire to Detroit. Road trip, yes, running, no; the drive took three hours longer due to snow.
Going to need to stretch those legs after the long drive. No run again, spent the day sleeping and with family.
6.2 miles
7 miles
My first 10K since 1999 and only my second since 1990; I didn't PR. A little warm up on a very cold snowy morning; finished the 10K in 48:24, which given the conditions was good enough for 11th place in my age group out of 222 runners.
10 miles
My calves were painfully sore from the slippery run yesterday; did four easy miles to help loosen up.
I could only sneak in 7 before I had to head east back to New Hampshire.
Didn't get home until well after dawn after an all night drive; no running for me and no 40 mile minimum for the week either.

It's been cold here in Minnesota lately (and I'm a bit of a cold weather running wimp).
So, mostly treadmill miles, here.

Thu: Two by Turkey Trot, 3 mi in 17:33 then 3 mi in 19:16 with 1.5 mi warmup

Sat 9.7 mi (1:17)
Sun 11.7 mi (1:32)

I did my annual Two by Turkey Trot on Thursday, first going all out
in the 9am start (men over 40 and women) and then jogging the 9:45am
start for men under 40. Finished 2nd overall in the 9am start, and that was
also 2nd AG. I actually was in the lead when the front guy missed the turn
but he then came back and won anyway
Crazy work week so this turned out to be more of a Tet-style "no training" plan.
