40/40 Thread for Week Ending 9/7/08 (Read 467 times)

    For those of you who are new, this is the 40/40 thread, for people who are over 40 years old who run or aspire to run 40 miles/week. We give Free Passes to those who come really close or try really hard... Here's what I have for the tally from last week so far, although I still have a couple of totals I need, and if got any numbers wrong, let me know.

          Thanks Holly for all the time and effort you put into our 40/40 group. Monday 26.30 Heart of America Marathon. Because of a different host motel they added 320 yards to the start, but did not change any of the rest of the course. It is 26.33 miles long. Tuesday 5.20 Wednesday Rest Thrusday 15.70 Friday 9.85 Saturday 14.30 Sunday 6.40 Total Miles - 77.75 TomD

          Running out of mistakes!

            Thanks for all the work Holly! Only a few weeks of peak workouts before taper for Hartford. My concentration on quality speed work and running form. M - rest/2mi bike done T - Intervals - (2 x 400m), (6 x 800m), (2 x 400m) done -avg 3:48s, skipped the last 400s W - 5mi ez done T - 13mi with hill work done, though cut it back to 11 F - 5mi ez done S - 10mi at pace (5mi race then 5mi run) done, 5mi race just off pr S - 18-20mi long run done, ham tenderness subsides Total planned ~60 actual 60
            -2009 running goals - sub-3 after Boston (probably VCM), 3 PRs, 2009 miles for the year, and no untreated injuries

It's been a forever it seems. 9/1----15 including 20k race---15.4 with 20k in 1:29:45 9/2----6-8 recovery run/no watch----8 miles 9/3----14 miles at 8:15 pace---13 miles at 8:10 pace 9/4----12 miles with 10 8 at MP----12.4 with 8 at MP 9/5----7 with Holly! Busiman, I am running in the Baystate Marathon on 10/19 in Lowell, MA Good week with the most miles I'll do in this training cycle. I am tired, but still doing okay and feeling strong.

Sunday morning long run - 20.07 Miles - 2:48:36 (8:24) Avg HR 124 Max HR 143 - 75 degrees and 58% humidity 9:31 - 9:03 - 8:49 - 8:44 - 8:50 - 8:33 - 8:15 - 8:00 - 7:40 - 7:45 - 7:42 - 7:48 - 8:27 - 8:13 - 8:14 - 8:23 - 8:19 - 8:29 - 8:39 - 9:00 - :05 I think that gave me a total of 54.3 for the week...thanks...vacation week so I didn't have a lot of time at the computer.

                          This is a cut back week for me - thank goodness. Monday - REST (biked for 9 miles) Tuesday - 5 miles - done! Wednesday - 5 miles - done at night - ugh! but it is done! Thursday - 5 miles - done! Friday - 13 miles - done! Saturday - rest (camping) plan on biking - lots of walking, no biking Sunday - 8 miles - done! 36 miles total - total complete! Erika - you deserve a break!! Big grin

                            Saturday13.1 5.30 Norwalk HM. Only if it does not rain. As of now rain seems very, very likely. Friday update: They cancelled the HM on Friday. HUGE rain storm coming! Planning to skip running and maybe add a few miles on Saturday. Run with DW after her return from a week long business trip. How could I say no?
                            Sunday7 9.66 Run with DW. She made it, running, to just past the 9 mile mark. A new distance PR for her!

                              Okay, I've made 3 weeks of 40/40 in a row! This is sort of a cutback week so we'll see whether I make it 40. I'm really enjoying training without a goal and as a result, not pushing too hard. Recovery 10:02 pace

                                Holly, I'm going to stop running to let the leg heal. Like Forrest Gump says "I'm pretty tired... I think I'll go home now". I'll be back in 40/40 in 3 weeks if all works according to plan. So ends my 60 weeks 40/40 streak... Later
