Coastwalker gets us off to a slippery start.  3.4 EZPZ RW miles.

Henrun has a sunny 2 miler.

RunnerKSA logs an early 3.1 miles in the AM then she tacks on an additional 2.2 on the treadmill. I'm sorry about your blue light treatment. Thankfully I don't need makeup. (Did I hear someone say "No..you need plastic surgery."?)

    Joe618 Hansen's up around the neighbor's neighborhood.

    Stumpy enjoys a springtime 3.1.

HollyS takes it to the streets for 4.7.

Fatozzig celebrates 3/4 of a rehab mile! She also reminds us that everyday we can choose to turn ourselves around. I admire your wisdom in avoiding icy situations. I know I'm not the smart. Yet.

    AnneB checks in.

Tramps wheels through memory lane and chalks up 22 miles.

Evanflein dances her way into the evening with dreams of 6.1 get 'em done treadmill miles.

Tom White gets out to the field for 75 Tickety-Boo minutes. Whatever the heck that is.

Deez4boyz checks in with a shorts 3.1 mile run. As a proud Michiganian, I can proudly say that the Detroit Lions have never lost a Superbowl.

Wildchild has a friendly 9.5 mile run with webcam equipped urinals. I read that article as well. It's very freaky as three have been down played sightings in our area. I'm glad I hit the trails with dogs.

Pfreise boasts a nice 7 miles.

TwoCat is living large with 1.75 miles and the PT insists on a repeat. Whoop!  I'm sorry about the IT headaches.

Surly Bill is enjoying a 2nd rest day and shares trail cam anecdotes.

MikeE settles in with a book.

Only Tetsujin209 could have a surprise 10 miler. It does sound nice.

I hit the streets solo in the AM for 4 icy miles. After work, Tag and I went for an additional 4 miles. I'll enjoy the paychecks more when work picks back up, but I like having gas in the tank and time for a nighttime run too.

3 miles this morning. 52 and very light rain at the start that went away after a mile. Not even enough to get wet so no rules broken.

Yesterday, I made it out to the gym for some weights. It was a stressful day at work with a couple of problems to solve so when I went to the gym I wanted it to hurt to take my mind off it.

I've been a member of another Masters running forum for many years.  The site (Runango) recently went dark and no one knows if it is coming back. I invited the handful of Masters left to check this place out. So, try to keep the offensive remarks to a minimum today in case they are lurking.

Thanks, Steve and good morning Dave and those to follow.   I'm not looking so good today- unless a completely red, swollen face is good.  I need to go to work anyway.....      64 degrees, which is definitely shorts weather for me!   2.9 miles was all the time I had by the time I got out the door, but rain is moving in, so at least I got the fresh air!     Have a greta day, y'all.

Hey all and nice recap Steve

Managed a bit over 3 on the hotel treadmill. Ice storms here in KC so it seemed the best option.

69 and rain sounds delightful Karen. Compared to here.

I understand that Dave. Nothing like a good workout to help melt away the stress. Here's hoping today is better.

          Cheers.

Steve - I love the Doobie Brothers...

Tet - way to brave the cold and icy conditions.

Steady hard rain here today.  3 miles on the TM, followed by 30 minutes of weights and core.

Life is a headlong rush into the unknown. We can hunker down and hope nothing hits us or we can stand tall, lean into the wind and say, "Bring it on, darlin', and don't be stingy with the jalapenos."

              Mornin' everyone.

Thanks again, Steve, and for the Doobies too. (From that, I got to Steve Winwood's daughter singing Higher Love  - I didn't know he had a daughter, or that she has a voice.

Nice rain-avoidance (via timing or TM) runs this AM.

I'll try to be nice, Dave.

Twocat, a niece just took over an IT dept. at a remote college campus in Stamford, CT. When she reported back to her boss what she found there, he fired the manager and is looking at restaffing the group. So you're not the only one with slackers, but you need someone to step in and do something about it.

The short snow piles along the sides of the road melted in yesterday's Spring-like temps, and then the flowing water froze overnight as temps dropped back to the upper 20s. When I looked out the window early this morning, I could see the glint of the ice from the streetlight, and it went well beyond the shoulder of the road. So I deferred.

              Have a greta Wednesday.

              Jay

Without ice cream there would be darkness and chaos.

Be glad you're not working for GM this week -- they're laying off 4000 salaried employees including engineers and other tech people with "outdated" skill sets. You know it's a bad day when you arrive at work and see a line of taxis out front that are for taking people home after they call them in to an office, give them the bad news, take the keys to their company car, and escort them out the door!

I went and saw the movie "They Shall Not Grow Old" yesterday. It was made from archival British film from WWI that was processed to sharpen up, colorize, correct the speed, etc. with amazing results. Instead of that jerky, fuzzy, old-time-movie look, it really brings the original individuals back to life. The narration is all done with excerpts from soldiers' letters and memoirs. If you're at all a history buff, look it up and take a look at the trailer. It was also released in 3D, but I saw the 2D showing which is more inline with my movie tastes.

Did about 12 miles on the bike trainer this morning in slightly less than an hour for a good cardio workout.

                  Mornin' all.

Scheduled rest day here.   I should go out and look for a camera at some intersection, then, eh?

Hope the treatment works, Karen, hang in there.

And I do like the Doobies as well.

                  Rock it....

                  ________

I have nothing particularly clever or profound to add as a tag to each message...I just like to run.

Roch - Thanks for the heads up on the movie.  The Hub is  HUGE history buff.  It won't come out in theaters here, but maybe we can find it on line at some point.

2Kitty - Sweet on the running two days in a row!!  And I figure my paranoia is going to remain well intact for a long time to come.

Tet - You always make bad weather sound like it's the best thing in the world to experience.

Dave59 - "So, try to keep the offensive remarks to a minimum today in case they are lurking. "  You ask a lot, you know that??

So guess who walked a whole mile this morning?  Yeah, that'd be me.  I ain't breaking any land speed records, but it happened.  Then I did my upper body ST and core and my PT exercises.  We'll see how all that combined sits with things the rest of the day.

This morning The Hub said, "I see all the hard work you're doing to rehab yourself and I'm proud of you."  Dang it, but I love that guy.

Oddly enough, I still listen to the Doobie Brothers once in a blue moon but can't stand Michael McDonald. (Music trivia: McDonald used to sing for Steely Dan, who I also listen to once in a great while.)

Stating the obvious: Those doing serious rehabbing--including Leslie and TwoCat--are pretty darn impressive.

Tet--yeah, maybe I'm a cynic but that mountain lion story had me wondering if there was more to that story.

Dave--you've been cheating on us with another forum all these years?

Doug--I had read a glowing review of that doc.  Sounds like an interesting way to help bring history alive.

Speaking of history. I've been reading some local Civil War history. I'd learned some living in Richmond for a decade (where it's unavoidable). But we moved an hour north more than a decade ago and I never learned much about the local campaigns (Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, Wilderness, and Spotsylvania). Some of this very local; Union troops likely camped on my property during the winter of 1862-63 and my bike rides--and old long runs--are along a road that used to be a key railroad line during the war. Some interesting stuff; especially the local history of some 10,000 enslaved people who fled from the Confederates before the Emancipation Proclamation by crossing the Rappahannock river into my county when Federal troops were here. (A small group of these were escorted by a local abolitionist and relocated out in Holly's area, in Yellow Springs, Ohio.) Anyway, it's been a good reminder that this "old" history is not so far away after all.

A 5K run for me today in warm 60F weather again.

                            Be safe. Be kind.

About 3 years ago I accompanied a runner named Ernest Andrus on 4 local six mile segments as he set the record for the oldest person to run across the USA, finishing at the Atlantic coast in Georgia the day after his 93rd birthday.

Yesterday I was able to sit down and talk with him for some time after I finished work as he was staying only a mile or so from the office. He is driving his motorhome back to Georgia and is planning on doing his previous cross country run in reverse, starting next month at the Atlantic and aiming to make it to the Pacific by around his 100th birthday. A wonderful and inspiring gentleman.

Ran 5 miles this morning. Temperature was 70F at 6am, with 100% humidity. Had to check the calendar when I got home to make sure it was still early February.

                              Started running at age 60.

No running today as we spent most of the day hiking around Myakka River State Park.  They have a canopy walk, bird walk, alligators, all of which we saw and more.  The boat ride was sold out until 3, so we didn't do that.  Some pics from FB
