Okay, I'll play.  Here are my numbers from my bloodwork in April.

        LDL - 86

        HDL - 131

        Overall Total: 229 mg/dl

Life is a headlong rush into the unknown. We can hunker down and hope nothing hits us or we can stand tall, lean into the wind and say, "Bring it on, darlin', and don't be stingy with the jalapenos."

          Ok I will play:

                          2012         2014          2016

          Total          180            234            250

          Triglyc.       59              70              81

          HDL            79              114            97

          LDL            89              106           137

          ratio            2.3             2.1             2.6

As you can see, things have gotten worse.  I eat too much dairy and meat and not enough veggies.

Enke - try a Nutribullet.  Every weekday I make this for breakfast: half banana, 5 large strawberries, tblspn ground flaxseed, half a carrot, and a little more than a cup of kale, plus a teaspoon of Splenda.  Spinach is even better (can't taste it at all) but my kale is producing so much I use it instead.  Wishing my spinach had done better this year, lol.  I freeze my bananas and kale in baggies, and buy the big bags of frozen strawberries.

My doc says they test my HDL twice because they don't usually get readings like that. LDL has dropped this past year and ratio is still ideal. She says, "keep doing what you're doing and you picked your parents well!"

Erika, that is an insane HDL!

The year I had an 114 for HDL, my doc said he had never seen one that high!  Guess he never had you as a patient!

                    an amazing likeness

                      Another data point...

                      Triglyc.        50

                      HDL           100

                      LDL              83

                      Total          193

                      ratio             1.9

Acceptable at a dance, invaluable in a shipwreck.

...thanks for the info guys//..........we need Henry and Robin to be the judges for this.........

..nothing takes the place of persistence.....

Holly has the lead HDL, I wonder why?

Just adding my numbers. I didn't have them checked this year because the doctor said every 5 years is OK.  I know that genetics plays a part, so thanks to my Mom and Dad.  I recently listened to a podcast on Intelligent Medicine suggesting that LDL particle size is of importance too but most doctors don't test for that.

                          Carolyn

I just got my bloodwork results, and mine are:

                            HDL  98

                            LDL   93

                            Total   204

                            Triglycerides  64

So I guess I don't win the fudge...

I hammered down the trail, passing rocks and trees like they were standing still.

I just got my bloodwork results, and mine are:

Lucky genetics plays the biggest role, of course, but also maybe my daily Nutribullet shakes, with fruit, flax seed, and kale, and/or my habit of eating about a half cup of Fiber One mixed with Kashi Go Lean Crunch at work with my hot tea and yogurt.  I can't think of anything else because the rest of my diet is pretty hit-or-miss.

X-Trackster - way to go on bringing those numbers down with diet changes.  Hardly seems fair when you are in such great shape.
