40/40 Thread for Week Ending 12/28/08 (Read 449 times)

Marathon Maniac #957

For those of you who are new, this is the 40/40 thread, for people who are over 40 years old who run or aspire to run 40 miles/week. We give Free Passes to those who come really close or try really hard... Here’s what I have for last week's tally. Let me know if I missed anyone.
    WhoMilesCommentary
Dopple Bock103 So where’s your next marathon?
    Evanflein53.75 Excellent 30.5-mile weekend!
    Perch53.4 Nice 14-6-17 combo
WillRunForBeer51.2 Broke 2000 miles this week – nice!
    Slowgino48 That’s one hardy dog...Smile
    JDMom3477 days running
    Holly46.4 Including a “Simulated 5K”
Franc5946.17 days running, in spite of the snow.
Ultrachick44 Snow definitely adds work to the workout.
Mainerunnah41.3 In spite of a super-busy work week, too.
Pfriese41.1 I see we’re all hitting the TM a little more, what with the winter weather.
    PeterNC40.55 Peter, it’s only a number...Smile
    Breger38 Excellent 17-miler at sub-MP!
TomD31.65 Oh Tom, that’s terrible news! Please keep us posted on Donna’s progress. You are both in my prayers.
Hermosaboy27.2 Healing miles. Glad you’re feeling better.
Barefoot Rick Free Pass Hit the 2600 barefoot miles mark, now time for some rest.
SLOjim Free Pass Ouch! I hope that clears up for you fast.
Here’s my plan for the week so far:
    DayPlanActual Commentary
Monday05.5 miles Plus weights and abs
    Tuesday7-9 8.45 miles Including 6 x 1/2-mile intervals, 1-minute rests
Wednesday6-7 9 miles Easy pace on the TM
    Thursday0 0 miles Christmas!
    Friday6-7 7.75 miles Sluggish pace
Saturday7-9 20 miles Slow and sluggish, against those pesky high winds, but lovely warm temps I couldn't resist
Sunday15+ 6 miles Recover pace on the TM
    Total? 56.7 miles

Life is a headlong rush into the unknown. We can hunker down and hope nothing hits us or we can stand tall, lean into the wind and say, "Bring it on, darlin', and don't be stingy with the jalapenos."

Thanks, Holly. And this is more or less a placeholder for me, too, until I figure out my week. Realizing I'm only 75 miles short of 2,000 for the year with 10 days to go has me thinking...

Fell twice during group trail run on a wet, muddy day. gashed knee on the first fall and bruised ribs on the second fall just 5 minutes later. Called it a day after the second fall. I have run trails all year and had only fallen twice all year until today with not even a scrape the other times. Trails were just in bad shape today.

                              60. 4 miles for me. Not bad since I didn't have any doubles and my long run was only 12 miles. I am officially in taper mode for Houston on 01/18/2009 -- let the head games begin!
