Bushrat Runner

Managed to get out and go 6 miles late in the day. Found myself wishing I had gone running earlier in the day as I was dealing with belly pains from having eaten too much too recently. But I scored well in the clothing department. I have a goretex running suit I bought years ago during the brief stint when RRS had them available in tall sizes. I haven't run through the past couple winters very much, so I have gotten out of practice planning how to dress in the winter. But my last few runs I have been too cold, especially my legs, and have had near muscle pulls, especially in the hamstrings. So this time I decided I wanted warm muscles, thinking I was overdressing. But when it is 20F and the wind is blowing 25 mph, it works out pretty well. I was comfortably warm, not hot, not cool. I guess it is cold enough to wear it now.

If it isn't windy, there are other ways to dress that probably work a little better, as goretex definitely traps a lot of moisture when you are running. But with wind like we get, you have to have something that is truly windproof during winter, so I've got a lot of miles out of this gear. Now to see if I can get myself out the door tomorrow.

    Marathon Maniac #957

At the end, there was a sprint for the first place position between the 70 year old who won my AG in the 5K and a young boy about 10 years old.  The 70 year old just squeaked out the kid but he was sure sucking wind.  I know the 70 year old from other races and know the kid and his family from church and around our little community.  It was a neat finish to see.

      I love this!

Tall - nice to see you!

Tet - well done with your marathon!  Please tell Dove I said hello next time yuo see her.

Marj - nice running to you and Henry!

Mariposai - congratulations to your DH on his longest run ever!

Life is a headlong rush into the unknown. We can hunker down and hope nothing hits us or we can stand tall, lean into the wind and say, "Bring it on, darlin', and don't be stingy with the jalapenos."

During the week, I got full time at work in two days, Wednesday and Thursday. Friday I was useless. Saturday, Tag and I picked Honey up and we put a few miles in. Then DW and I met the kids at a water park. Noah and I kept climbing cargo nets that were not built for grandparents.
