40/40 Thread for Week Ending 4/26/09 (Read 512 times)

    For those of you who are new, this is the 40/40 thread, for people who are over 40 years old who run 40 miles/week or more. We give Free Passes to those who come really close or try really hard... Here’s what I have for last week’s tally. Let me know if there are any errors.

    Life is a headlong rush into the unknown. We can hunker down and hope nothing hits us or we can stand tall, lean into the wind and say, "Bring it on, darlin', and don't be stingy with the jalapenos."

        Thanks Holly Day Monday -- 5 miles actual Tuesday -- 7.2 actual [w/u ... 2-4-6-8 minutes with 2 minute jogs in between at 1/2 minus 20 seconds .. cl dwn] Wednesday -- 6.5 recovery Thursday -- 12.5 miles [man -- feel like crap today ... not sleeping due to allegies ... overseas tonight.] Friday -- probably off / maybe 5 Saturday 6 actual Sunday 6 miles [been in london since friday ... walk around the last part of the course ... saw part of the london marathon on sunday ... nice finish at Buckingham palace ... great weather.] Tough week -- 43.2 actual NJ 1/2 Marathon May 3rd [sub 1:40 target]

          Maybe I'll follow the plan this week...(unlike the last 2 weeks) Monday 4/20 - 8 miles.........8 miles Tuesday 4/21 - 12 miles........12 miles Wednesday 4/22 - 12 miles.....12 miles Thursday 4/23 - 12 miles.....12 miles Friday 4/24 - 12 miles......12 miles Saturday 4/25 - 12 miles.....12 miles Sunday 4/26 - 12 miles.......12 miles TOTAL - 80 miles...........ACTUAL - 80 miles *** Holly - It will be the Maine Marathon in Portland.

              Tks Holly, your the bestest, eh... 1 week till Eugene Marathon Mon: rest - 17.0 miles (7:50 pace) including some MP miles, max HR only 148, though legs are feeling good my shoulders and hands are sore from all the painting over the weekend. Tues: 5 miles - 5.0 miles (8:35 pace) Wed: 8 miles - 9.25 miles (8:07 pace) nice aerobic run Thurs: 10 miles including 3x 1m @ 5K with 2:00 interval - 5.0 miles (8:26 pace), then 3 hrs helping son start to move. Fri: 5 miles - 11.0 miles (7:46 pace) including 3 x 1m @ 6:40 pace with 2:00 interval jog, then helped son 3 hrs moving. Sat: 7 miles - zero - helped son 12 hrs moving Sun: 13 miles - zero - helped son 12 hrs moving (done!!!!!) total: 47.25 miles

                I Can Go The Distance

                  Monday 4 mile recovery run Done Tuesday 8 miles easy (4 am 4 pm) Done Wednesday MLR 10 miles Done Thursday 4 mile recovery run Done Friday 8 miles easy (4 am 4 pm) Done Saturday 5 miles easy w/10x100m strides Done Sunday 0 Total 39 miles I guess I am going to need a pass for this week. After my run on Saturday morning, I had alot of pain in my right hip. Sunday morning it was worse and I could not do my long run. I may have to take next week off from running. Thanks Holly Bruce

                    Thanks Holly Smile Shin healed up enough, that I can make it back to the 40/40 again Cool Mon - 8 easy miles - 1:08 - 8:32 ave pace Tues - 4.2 mile recovery run Weds - 11.5 miles - 1:31:37 - 7:58 ave pace - with 6 800 meter repeats with 200 meter recovery jogs. 1 - 3:19 (6:40 pace) 2 - 3:18 (6:38 pace) 3 - 3:25 (6:52 pace) 4 - 3:26 (6:54 pace) 5 - 3:23 (6:48 pace) 6 - 3:15 (6:32 pace) Thurs - 4 mile un-timed recovery run...needed that after (above workout) Friday - Rest Day 3.3 easy miles - 28:45 - 8:43 ave pace Sat - 20 miles 23 miles - 3:25:23 - 8:55 ave pace Sun - 7.3 easy miles - 1:07:23 - 9:14 ave pace - First 30 mile weekend since last fall. Total - 61.3 miles - Very good training week Smile

                    Running has given me the courage to start, the determination to keep trying, and the childlike spirit to have fun along the way - Run often and run long, but never outrun your Joy of running!

                      Monday - 8miles EZ - done Tuesday - 12 miles 9 at 6:45 pace- done Wednesday - rest - done Big grin Thursday - 15 miles including 3x7K at 6:39 pace- done Friday - 6 miles ez- done Saturday - 23 miles with last 4 miles at 6:35 pace done Sunday - rest...ahhhhhhh doing Total -64 miles

                          Thanks for the free pass Holly :-) M - 26.2 mile long run at marathon pace - done, 3:04 2min faster than last year T - rest W - rest T - rest F - 2 miles - skipped due to travel S - 5 miles - done...felt good to be back on my feet S - 6 miles - 12 miles, I felt inspired by recovered legs and gorgeous sunset total - don't care at this point ;-) Total 43
                          -2009 running goals - sub-3 after Boston (probably VCM), 3 PRs, 2009 miles for the year, and no untreated injuries

                            Mon – AM4:45 in 35:18 Just me and the dog
                            Mon – PM7.6 in 55:53 Includes 8 x 30 second hill repeats with 1:00 recovery. Surprised how strong I felt given legs REALLY sore from lifting yesterday. Running by HR during non-hill portion with goal of 130. I may not have any true speed right now but I am feeling pretty goodon these runs. Once I get this hip under control, excited to see the adaption.
                            Tues – AM3.6 in 28:22 Nice it’s getting light earlier!!!
                            Tues – PM REST Daddy Dos
                            Wed – AM3.01 in 24;11 Had to cut short – ran out of time
                            Wed – PM12 in 1:30:46 Sunny and 62 Big grin

                            Fri – PM5.03 in 36:45 First 1.5 with KeeMan as cool-down after his 4x800 race
                            Sat – AM8.24 Includes serving as pace bunny for CamScam – he ran 19:26 to win a small 5k! Cool
