    Mornin' everyone.

We haven't, and probably won't see Rogue One, so I've said all I can say about it.

Good elliptical and weight work, TwoCat. I haven't run (or walked) Cork, but good luck and have fun if you go!

Nice TM 3-miler, Holly. Thanks for the tip on the castor oil packs. I may give that a try if the TENS unit (which arrived yesterday) doesn't produce some positive results (which it already has).

Yikes - a 16-hr. shift, Deeze! Congrats on keeping up with the FA challenge, and on passing 100 mi. for Dec.

Good 3-miler Tammy. And good luck and have fun with the C25K group.

Good 3.85-miler, Doug. If only you went 4...

Good job of keeping up with the "1 inch" of snow, Evanflein, and great work on the TM. There's nothing wrong with a drink and a wipe every once in a while on a TM - it's not a race, you know!

As I said earlier, my TENS unit arrived yesterday, and I used it twice last night and once more this morning. It made a difference immediately: I slept without the discomfort I've been feeling for a few weeks, and my walk this morning was more comfortable (although not ache-free) than yesterday's. I went 3.9 miles this morning at a decent pace for a 'casual' walk. I wanted to get out early because we've got lots o' rain (which will be snow just a few miles inland) coming later. Our New Year's company (SIL, BIL, and their 2 girls) arrive later today. Unfortunately, we have to start the New Year with a funeral on Monday of an old friend who died too young and too suddenly from cancer. Yep, CFS.

    Have a greta Thursday!

    Jay

Without ice cream there would be darkness and chaos.

((Jay)) and happy to hear that the TENS may be working.

Hope the other with ailments are getting better

Yesterday we saw Manchester by the Sea - excellent acting and story, but very depressing

Who but a runner - runner past me this morning and says nice day.  My response - until 10.  I then pass same runner who has stopped & is stretching.  When he passes me again, he said did I mean 10 miles or 10 am?  Who but a runner would think of 10 miles at 7 am?  And we were on heartbreak hill & he was wearing a boston marathon jacket...

and from today's NY Times, Ed Whitlock story http://www.nytimes.com/2016/12/28/sports/ed-whitlock-marathon-running.html?hpw&rref=sports&action=click&pgtype=Homepage&module=well-region&region=bottom-well&WT.nav=bottom-well

      Enjoy,

      marj

coastwalker good to hear the tens unit seems to be helping. The PT that finally cured my hamstring problems is a big fan of them.

mrrun Manchester by the Sea is a great movie for women to go see. Guys, should stay home and watch football instead! I went with my DW and her friend. I fell asleep after 15 minutes. My DW woke me up and I saw the rest of the film. I wish she had let me sleep.

Looking outside I may have been a bit too cautious this morning. Some friends of mine organized a run at 9am. I had agreed to go, but last night saw the weather forecast was for rain starting at 8. When I woke up at 6 I checked the radar and it looked as though the rain might hit by 8 if not earlier. So I bailed on waiting until 9 and went out for 6 miles on my own at 7. It is now 9:30 and looking outside, no rain.  You win some and you lose some.

Matt, as a "touchee-feelee" guy and retired shrink I loved the movie. I sometimes fall asleep during football games.

Woefully behind here. Good to see you are actively doing some TENS to recover and hope it works for you, Jay.

I think you did the right thing getting your run in before the possible rain, Matt. Here is horribly windy and add rain to that and ugh,

I've not been to a movie since the last Star Wars movie. Why go pay a bunch of money to walk on sticky floors when you can lounge at home and hit pause at will to get another drink, snack or bio break Smile

Opted for elliptical today because of said wind. Rain started just as I got to work about 9. That is all we are to get though as it will bein the 40's.

ETA I donated all the gifted candy/pocporn I got at work to the local soup kitchen who was thrilled to get it.

              My thoughts exactly.

I looked at Wikipedia's synopsis of Manchester by the Sea, and will definitely NOT be seeing it.  I really don't like depressing movies.

No run, no nada for me today.  I slept in until 6:30, had my coffee and read my email, then it was time to get ready for work.  It has been nice being lazy for a few days, especially given the work stress right now, but I will be back at it tomorrow.

Life is a headlong rush into the unknown. We can hunker down and hope nothing hits us or we can stand tall, lean into the wind and say, "Bring it on, darlin', and don't be stingy with the jalapenos."

We paid $19 a ticket to see Rogue One. I almost keeled over from sticker shock. Not sure if it was because we saw the 3D version, went at the higher price time of the day (after 5 pm) or what. Are they always that expensive? I haven't gone to a "real" theater in so long, it was a surprise. We usually see movies at the Blue Loon and the tickets are $6 each and you can have burgers and wine with your movie. Smile

I'm loving having this time off work, but I was going in to my office for a bit this afternoon after my dentist appointment (which should take all of 20 minutes). I need to at least water my plants and maybe do some clean up of "stuff" and de-clutter a bit. We have a "winter storm warning" for the next couple of days with up to 12" of snow predicted starting later today and into tomorrow, with high winds. The news is acting like we never get snow... If we do get that much though, it'll be good to not have to go anywhere tomorrow or Saturday, so that's my plan.

Erika - 12" is a LOT of snow in my book, especially with high winds.  I bet your grocery store is a madhouse right now.  Be safe!

We  have some high priced movie theaters here, as well as the low-cost.  I took GD2 to see Finding Dory and also had sticker shock - around that price.  When I took GS, it was at a normal priced theater - 8 to 10$.  It was not a movie worth seeing twice. We're members of our local art movie theater, so it's around 7 depending on the show.

I'm not sure there is a movie I would pay $19 to see! wow. that's alot.  We saw a matinee for $7. plus DS and DH always get to see movies at that cost since they each get student and senior discount.

went out for a 3 mile trail run today. first run in over a week.

                      Tammy

Jay - hope the TENS unit continues to your recovery!

Tammy - nice job getting back out there

Erika - $19 for a movie ticket sounds outrageous!!

I ditched both my Thursday morning groups and slept in this morning after that 16 hour shift - need to listen to my body. Went out for 2.6 solo miles around 7:15 this morning. 3 more days for the holiday challenge and until I double dip in OOB Maine!!  We are heading up tomorrow late afternoon after DH gets home from work and will probably ride over to the campground on Sat to check out the camper. I miss it so much!!

We have thunder snow happening here right now!! Crazy snow, thunder and lightening!!

                        Nite all!!

                        evanflein

                          Snow and lightning... interesting combination!

I ran 5.2 on the treadmill today before getting ready for my dentist appointment. The final stage of this implant process is going to cost $2,036 for the crown and final "prep kit". Good grief. This is on top of probably almost $4k for the periodontist to get to this stage. And this is a tooth I've already had a crown and root canal on. How can one stoopid tooth cost almost $10k? Just nuts. Of course, it probably would've been almost half that cost in Seattle, but that's what it is here. Bleh. It will be good to have a tooth again though. Should be all done before Valentine's Day.

We're having a winter storm roll through now. We've gotten a few inches already, and it's picking up now. Should get wind coming through this evening and tomorrow. We bought candles and we're charging all our chargeable items now. I don't want to take the day off from running tomorrow, but our roads will be impassable so if there's no power, there's no run. I guess we'll see what happens! They've upped the storm total to 15" (from 12"), so it'll be interesting to see where we end up.

                          Mariposai

My DH went to see THE movie on Christmas Eve afternoon. Glad he did, it was better than hearing his wife grown about her pain of being sick.

Still no running or any moving here. On top of cold bug, I started developing a viral Eustachian tube infection...ouch my whole face aches. No meds for me, but let the force take it's course, but going to work I did today because the nasty end of the duties only me has the clearance to do in certain websites.

At the rate I am going, no running for the rest of this year. 2017 will be much welcomed in my books.

oh Mariposai, that sounds miserable! I hope you are feeling better soon - like by the new year so you can start off healthy!
