    Mornin' everyone.

    Monday’s workouts:
    RunnerKSA (3 day-starter miles after a late night + 2.1 post-work TM miles)
    Tramps (5 drizzly morning miles)
    Dave59 (core workout + 4 miles)
    Sees-the-Ground (6 miles in 75 humid degrees)
    Henrun (2.2 Charles-side miles)
Wildchild (5.5 neighborhood dirt road miles)
Holly (light weights & core work)
C-R (1.5 nice and EZ TM miles)
Falconfixer (3.5 morning miles with breezeway neighbor + 2 post-work miles)
    Mike (34 min of weights)
    Deeze 22 Maine bike miles + 4.2 run/walk miles)
Bioguy (4.2 KC, MO humid miles)

KSA, I can and have been accepting age-related slow-down, but the only thing that seems to be accelerating now is the rate of my slowdown, and I'm not too happy with that. Sorry about the ball game.

Happy Anniversary, Dave, and congrats to you both for hanging out together for 35 years!

Nice free concert, Henrun & Marj!

Holly, when you find that card, would you get one for me??

Sorry, but I don’t have any words of wisdom for you, Falconfixer. But I’d pay attention to Tammy’s advice.

Sounds like a great time in Maine, Deeze. You’ve earned the break, so enjoy it.

Great job of managing up, SteveP!

'Nother meeting filled day today (#1, 9-12; #2, 3:30-5; #3, 7-8:30). How am I supposed to get any work done???

6.58 RW farlek miles this morning in 55° temps with a cool westerly breeze. I worked hard again and was disappointed with my splits again. I'm going to focus a little more on my speed (such as it is) work and things like quick step drills and see if it makes any difference by the time I get to the July 4th race I signed up for.

    Have a greta Tuesday!

Without ice cream there would be darkness and chaos.

I've noticed that ever since my 40s with the slowdowns.  When I turned 40 I was really still going strong and I thought the aging thing wouldn't apply to me.  At 42 my paces took a real dive.  After that it seemed if I had an injury or something, I never got back to even close to where I had been, despite all the assurances that "you'll be back better than ever."  Um, no.

Tired this morning.  I was out in the front yard with the dogs at 3 am (my issue- not theirs, probably).  I heard them  stirring in the night and I decided they needed to go out (which they never do).  So- they went right back to sleep and I didn't.      Just 1.5 miles to start the day.

Another 2 miles on a beautiful cool sunny morning.

Jay, in another decade, if you’re still out there (and I’m sure you will be) you’ll notice a major slowdown. Much, much better than the alternative 😎.

...falconfixer//.......here's a Good IT Band stretch, also good for lower back pain.......

6 basic miles for today.  Trying for consecutive sixes this week.

ITB issues can also be reflective of instability in the hips, glutes, and hammies.  When my legs get tired, my right knee dives inward putting pressure on my ITB and everything else.  I'm working really hard to strengthen what needs to be strengthened.  Here's a good hip strength circuit.  Jay Dicharry is a very well-known and admired PT out of Bend, OR.

Jay - The paces the race walkers are able to sustain are amazing.  I'd be going batty of the stats, too, and would love to see an actual race some day.

              Sumac - Muzak

30+ min of core/ST last evening after work, and then 5 miles this a.m. in slightly muggy conditions, with a 2 tempo miles in the middle.  My tempo miles are probably slower than most of your average paces, but it's all good.  It's been awhile since I've done a tempo run. I think I did a good job of keeping it at a pace I could sustain for more than 2 miles, but it sure wasn't easy, especially since I did my core/ST last evening after work.  Keeps the legs from getting bored!

I stopped at the store on the way to work for a couple of things and got complimented 3 times in less than 10 minutes.  It's been a good day so far!

              Enjoy ~~

                  Hey all.

Never under estimate the strength of drills. They always seem to work wonders for my running and golf. Should do them more. Good luck Jay.

Good one Karen - sounds like that counsel needs some self-awareness drills.

ITB - best thing for me was the cross over legs and bend to touch the toes stretch. Swore by it for years.

Got 6.5 miles slowly at lunch. Getting better but speed is right out.

                  Back to the cave.

I have not been around in awhile. I have to admit I have not even checked in. I have been crazy busy at work. This is the time of year when I can get my research done and I am going at it full force. Plus, I have been injured. Some muscle in my lower left back. Doctor gave me some stretches and said no running until it stops hurting. I am leaving Sunday for a conference in San Diego and my hope is to try to start up while I am there. It will be a bit of a sad conference. I had hoped to see a friend of mine in San Diego that I have not seen in over a decade. Alas, he passed away in his sleep eight days ago. I wish he had taken better care of himself. The world is a bit poorer with his departure.

RunnerKSA that never recovering fully after an injury thing. Amen to that!

Twocat, so sorry about your friend.  At least passing away in his sleep sounds like a decent way to go.

5.6 miles around the neighborhood on this blue sky day.  I love summertime in the mountains - not too hot, and loads of wildflowers.

I hammered down the trail, passing rocks and trees like they were standing still.

Years ago, before my mom died, my heart had already adopted her husband as my second dad.  He lives only a couple miles from me, and is a wonderful man, now remarried to a wonderful woman.  I still love my other dad, but because his wife did not like me, we did not see much of him for years (and I thought him a coward for letting her estrange his first 3 children in favor of his last child with her).  At any rate, I still love the man, he is my dad after all.  He took me to lunch today and told me he has bladder cancer, and that it has spread beyond the bladder to the muscle.  He will see a specialist next week about it, but asked me to (finally) prepare a POA, healthcare POA, and HIPAA release for him before he goes.  Thankfully he is naming my little brother as agent, with me as successor, so the hard decisions will not fall to me.  Still, it is sobering, and for those of you that do such things, a prayer or two for him would be appreciated.

6.5 miles for me today in 67 degrees.

Life is a headlong rush into the unknown. We can hunker down and hope nothing hits us or we can stand tall, lean into the wind and say, "Bring it on, darlin', and don't be stingy with the jalapenos."

Holy, that's tough.  I'm glad he reached out to you.

Did my longer run of the day after work on the treadmill-  3.2 miles after feeding the cats and before feeding the dogs.     So-  4.7 for the day.

Got one of my big California cases settled (wage and hour stuff) and now have to turn my attention to Washington state, which is trying to become the new California in terms of unreasonable decisions designed to make plaintiffs' lawyers rich and not do a whole lot for anyone else. It never ends.

                                Hello everybody!

Wow, Holly--I am so sorry to hear this.  He--and you--will be in my prayers.  Please keep us updated.

I had no run.  I thought I had a meeting at church, tonight.  I went up there to find the parking lot empty.  I checked my email and found that it said it was on Wednesday the 12th.  I put it on my calendar on the 12th...of course, Wednesday is the 13th...

I guess that's about all I've got.  See ya!
