I checked out your HM in Buckley, Opie.  Looks like a nice, smallish race!  I was thinking "trail" meant soft trail, but it looks to be paved. is the whole thing paved, or maybe just where the photos were taken? Either way, it looks like a nice race. net downhill is sweet too Smile

        Tammy

I think the whole thing is paved and it's a rail to trail.  Check this out: https://www.piercecountywa.org/1384/Foothills-Trail

We could celebrate my birthday early (it's 7/24)!

sounds like a great birthday run.

Neat you found a downhill run

            around here, after all.

            I don't think there's that many

but have you found a few, though?.

I always wanted to do one

in my more downhill running days.

Paul - I got Joanie's autograph at the 2004 Capital City Marathon in Olympia 20th anniversary of her win in the first Women's Olympic Trials there just 17 days after arthroscopic knee surgery. Maybe I'll get another one this year when she's back 35 years later for the dedication of "Joan Benoit Samuelson Marathon" Park. Yippee.

Paul - did you figure out your PNW race for the year, yet?

Or is Pike's Peak going to be your venture out of the flat lands this year?

It's sure one I would have like to run up and fly back down

just like downhill skiing before Father Time caught up to me.

                Have fun.

Opie seems to have come through

with a good downhill run up there, though.

I haven’t bothered with fighting the St. Patrick’s Day crowds in recent years, especially since they changed it from 4.8 miles to only 5K but, with temps into the high sixties for this year’s running, to say nothing of the fact that I don’t run fast enough anymore for crowded running to make a difference anyway, there’ll be at least one guy with green bare feet again.

Not yet. Neither of my summer trips up there align with any races. I'm not sure when we'll come up in the fall/winter. I might get lucky on a race then. Pikes Peak is probably my "goal/destination" race. But, a couple of more races this fall coincide with our trip to Ireland & France in September. Also, my eldest DD's best friend wants me to run MCM with her this year. So, I'll probably put my name in the lottery for that, too.

Especially if you can wear a PP shirt
However, as long as you have such a luxurious beard,
you really need a t-shirt from up somewhere in Erika-land.

Are you still going up there?

However, I can hardly imagine a PNW weekend without a decent race of some distance.  With the demise of our beloved running magazine, NWRunner, it’s almost impossible to find out everything that’s going on unless you already know what’s going on and look it up for specifics but a good search for specific dates should reveal something worthwhile.  Otherwise, maybe a
                    “WA” search of

If not, there’s quite a few worthwhile hiking trails near Issaquah that always include a number or runners training for something or the other, including a half I’m looking at along Rattlesnake Ridge on June 15. Good luck.

I have hiked Pike's Peak twice. Started before 4am. The altitude really hits me the final three miles, but I certainly hope to do it again.

On the first ascent, there were folks training for the marathon. Apparently, their workout was to drive up, then run down 1 mile, run back up, run down two, run back up, then run down 3 and back. Me, I was struggling to go from rock to rock to catch my breath,

The 2nd time I went, I followed up with the incline a day later.

Bioguy, I've run a few races in Denver and also while on vacation up in Aspen. That last 3 miles is going to be tough though.

                          Paul,

Please scratch this weekend's race for me.  Waited until the last minute & haven't signed up.  I've having some health issues, some old & some new.  Will know after the doc visit tomorrow.  Don't bring baling wire to hold me together just yet!
