Here’s my tentative plan for the week. I'm having some right knee pain, minor but these things make me a little nervous, so I may switch out some mileage for cycling this week if it persists.

Life is a headlong rush into the unknown. We can hunker down and hope nothing hits us or we can stand tall, lean into the wind and say, "Bring it on, darlin', and don't be stingy with the jalapenos."
Thank you Holly. I may cut back some this week. I will a volunteer at the Summer Pyscho Wyco this Saturday. It is a local 50k run. I have run it in the pass, but now I need to stay out of the hot and cold weather, because of my heart.

Crazy week, but a great week. I will be leaving Kuwait to fly back to the US. Because of the way things work I have to fly to Norfolk first before I can fly to Hartford. I little weird and time consuming. I may have to take a pass on this week, but I will try like heck to get 40 in. Running for several hours on Sunday after just getting home with the family is a little unrealistic. I have been running solid for 6 weeks now and a cut back week is not a bad thing!

Thanks Holly!
A little disappointed with my mileage lately. i was hoping by this point to be pretty consistently in the 50-55 range and ready to move up. Ah well, it is what it is.

Leg is feeling pretty good... not 100% yet, but getting there...
Race will be a Mile on the track at low altitude just outside of Sacramento...

We are going to a 14 winery tasting that includes 90 minutes of appetizers followed by a 5 course dinner.
And DB is DoppleBock. When you need to go a step beyond HTFU, DBTFU
This originated over in the Swamp, somewhere in the DB in France thread. Here's a bit of what DoppleBock wrote about grinding out 154.38 miles at the World 24hr championship: The last 1.5 hours I put aside myself and became an animal that only knew he must hunt or die. I wore it on my face and I grunted and growled a lot as I pushed the pain back down. Whenever I think about quitting in the midst of a hard workout, thinking DBTFU helps get me to the end.

Welcome home Diverdoc! I fly into Hartford all the time (closest airport since I live in Florence, MA---Northampton) I'll be waving.
DBTFU could come in handy as a mantra in extreme cases. Dopple Bock is amazing.
Coach Mary suggested a free week or "Run as you please and mostly easy----You need healing time after all the racing micro-tears" Fine by me with work travel and friend hosting, it's already a crazy week and only half-over.
7/5---4 easy
7/6---9 with faster middle miles in Chicago
7/7---6 ---planned on 10 but felt awful and it was 5:00 am and I needed to hit the road for work
7/8-7/11---don't know yet!
Ended up with 63.1 on the week---intense week and coming up for air. Details later and thank goodness for running---keeps me fairly sane, well sort of, well, you know!
Core as usual
Take it easy on the knee Holly. We don't need you injured.
With miles 5, 6, and 7 at tempo pace (7:47, 7:49, 7:40)
A real sweatfest but I'm happy with this one.
