Life is a headlong rush into the unknown. We can hunker down and hope nothing hits us or we can stand tall, lean into the wind and say, "Bring it on, darlin', and don't be stingy with the jalapenos."
Hi Holly: Boy this is really going to be a crap shoot for me. I have no idea how the marathon is going to play out, I can say that I am cautiously optimistic as my legs are feeling a bit better from all the foam rolling etc. I can only hope that I have a good day next Monday. This week will be very light and I will stop running with any indication of pain.
Right now the weather doesn’t look too bad. Low of 39, high of 54 and cloudy with a shower “possible”.

After a pretty tough weekend, this may be a cutback week of sorts, followed by a peak mileage week and then the taper into my May 15th marathon.
Often injured, NEVER giving up.
Plan is to hit 40 with only one run per day and the longest being 8 or 10. Trying to be a good boy!!!

Cautiously optimistic that I am turning the corner on this thing…
If this goes well, that will give me three solid weeks of training and a two week taper before Fargo.
Think positive -- I want to win some money!!!

tues - 10.3m [w/ 3 x 1 mile @ 1/2 mary pace]
Wed - 5.3 easy
Th -- off
Fri -- 6.1m [with strides]
Sat - 8.4 miles [with 5k race -- 19:04 ... that's a 55 sec PR on the same course I PR'd on last year (don't run allot of 5k's) -- not an easy or flat course -- I actually think 18:30 on a flat course could be possible with the right training -- mentally I don't think of myself as being able to hold a pace in the 5's. Perfect weather. Finished 9th overall and 2nd in my AG -- pretty high right now -- wishing someone could slip me 5 seconds on the sly :-)]
Sun - 5.7 miles [easy]
Total = 41.1m ... and now the taper begins
2012= under-goaled
Getting quiet crazy and into my race brain now

Thanks Holly. Before I forget, let me wish good luck to the Boston runners. Someday I hope to join you there.
My half marathon is on the 25th, so I'll cut back just a little this week. I find that I don't really need much of a taper for a half.
Week ended on a bad note. I've been dealing with some SI joint issues off an on the last few months. I thought that it has been improving but had a setback over weekend. Running was painful. Hopefully I can get through my race next weekend but I think that I need to get this looked at.
Not at it at all.
Thanks Holly.

Final week of Boston Taper. Getting nervous. Remind me again why I run these things?
Bill
Overall pace 8:40. 3 x 1 mile run at 7:16, 7:36, and 8:16
The last one was precautionary and slowed on purpose.
Slow and easy does it planned.
This one may not happen as I have a very early flight
With 3 x 20 seconds at 3 to 5K pace, 40 seconds jog recovery.
Hope to run this with Holly and Evan!
So far this week ...
"Some are the strong, silent type. You can't put your finger on exactly what it is they bring to the table until you run without them and then you realize that their steadiness fills a hole that leaks energy in their absence." - Kristin Armstrong

Monday rest; planned to swim but never made it
Tuesday Ran 6.5 easy; swam 1500
Wednesday Ran 5
Thursday Swam 1500
Friday Plan -run 5-6; try not to swim
Saturday Run 3-4
Sun Run 3
Generally Aim for zen; work on sleep and work stress
Holly,
Have a great Boston Marathon.
I'm tapering down for next weekends marathon, so I'm a bit short this week. Only 35.1 miles total this week, but I had a great 5K with PR.
Thanks
