40/40 Thread for Week Ending 3/9/08 (Read 720 times)

Marathon Maniac #957

For those of you who are new, this is the 40/40 thread, for those who are over 40 years old who run or aspire to run 40 miles/week. We give Free Passes to those who come really close or try really hard... Here's the tally from last week. Let me know if I got anything wrong, or missed anyone.
    WhoMilesCommentary
Twocat74.23 Yowza – lots of miles – but the longest run over with now.
CNYrunner72.2 Lots of miles and a 22-fast-finish LR to cap it off.

    Hermosaboy62.7 With mucho doubles.
    Holly56.5 Blah, blah...

    SirWalksalot Free Pass Big grin
Here's my plan for the week. Now that we're in March, I'd like to keep the mileage about the same, but begin upping the intensity, with lots more MP miles. And, like CNYrunner, I'm aiming at getting more nutritious, less junk, more bang for my food buck.

Life is a headlong rush into the unknown. We can hunker down and hope nothing hits us or we can stand tall, lean into the wind and say, "Bring it on, darlin', and don't be stingy with the jalapenos."

This will be a lower mileage week only because I'll be leaving for a ski vacation on Saturday and will not get in a Long Run on the weekend. However, the rest of the week should be fairly high-quality.

Thanks Holly. Hitting my 40-mile quota is keeping me (barely) ahead of that pace bunny. Wink M--6.6 easy miles @ 8:52 T W Th F S S = ~40

Back from the relay... gotta figure out how to pick up the marathon training thing...looks like the schedule wants a step back week. Even though I didn't get that 20 in last Sunday, I think a step back is a good idea...

Thanks, Holly! I appreciate the time you take to do this. Family visiting left me tired Sunday, but I pushed (or pulled) myself out the door to get in my first 19 mile LR. It was NOT pretty at the end - I couldn't even think of trying to run MP . . . Another 50+ week before a stepback week. Looking forward to reading about the relay . . . Steve
