Marathon Maniac #957
For those of you who are new, this is the 40/40 thread, for people who are over 40 years old who run 40 miles/week or more. We give Free Passes to those who come really close or try really hard...
I am sorry I never got to the previous week’s tally – a computer virus had me busy on Wed. and Thurs, then the rest of the weekend I was just busy with holiday stuff. I’ll do a quick one today to catch up. Here’s what I have for week’s tally. Let me know if I missed you.

Life is a headlong rush into the unknown. We can hunker down and hope nothing hits us or we can stand tall, lean into the wind and say, "Bring it on, darlin', and don't be stingy with the jalapenos."

Just back this afternoon. Great weekend in VA/MD/PA. 3:37:46 on a rails-to-trails course in MD. Lots of non-running activities, too. Recovery week this week so I'll need a free pass.

Thanks Holly. Don't worry about being behind with this. The work you do to keep this thread going is appreciated. As a matter of fact, we are at the time of year that this thread helps keep me motivated to get out and run.
That said I'm plain tired out and am taking it easy this week. I may or may not make it to 40 miles and I am not going to worry about ut.
Not at it at all.
I hear you brother as feel the same way .... except bad news is somehow some jack$#@ signed me up for a 2nd marathon in 11 Days!
Good thing its a Taper week Actually felt OK on todays run and not going to sweat the next 10 days as it is what it is. I have know Idea what to expect in Rocket city , but sticking with my 3:45 guns and hoping for a season ending race day magic
Primary goal is to get to the start line in best health state possible. May be in 30's again this week.

The Flying Monkey Marathon was great. The hills were even bigger than I remembered. One black toenail was the only casualty. I had a great rest/recovery week last week and am tempted to run the White Rock Marathon on December 13.
So, I should be back to 40+ miles this week M - 7.9 @ 8:55/mile T - 8.0 @ 8:59/mile W - 5.2 @ 9:28/mile Th - rest day F - 8.1 @ 8:50/mile Sa - 8.3 @ 8:35/mile Su - 8.0 @ 9:32/mile __________________________________ Total - 45.5 miles Paul

however, you stay away too until nonrunning items taken care of otherwise it's hard to enjoy either.

Hey Holly! I'd be crippled if I tried to run 40 miles in a week. Am trying to get mileage up from 20-25 w/o injury. Have had injries each time I've tried in the past.
Slow and easy does it.
