dear posie,
Thanks for the post-Mt. Rainier lunch. It was like getting to be young again to meet your mentor friends and find out they even performed the butterfly wedding back before anyone ever dreamed of adventures yet and where to come for you.
The Wonderland is a longtime dream for many of us on the Pacific side too but, just a traditional one-day hike up to the 10,000 foot Camp Muir level gets called off as often as not due to foul weather.
I guess it's good though that it didn't happen to you all several days in when it might not have been possible to get out in time, if not in shape, to be able to salvage so marvelously on other scenic peaks in the North Cascades.

Life is a headlong rush into the unknown. We can hunker down and hope nothing hits us or we can stand tall, lean into the wind and say, "Bring it on, darlin', and don't be stingy with the jalapenos."
What a wonderful adventure you had, mariposai. Even the change of plans due to weather resulted in great hiking. The pictures are fantastic.

Courage ! Do one brave thing today...then run like hell.
Glorious!
Spectacular photos!

Thanks for the beautiful pictures, butterfly lady! You sure have some spectacular country up there - I'd love to hike with you someday! (But not in the rain.)
I hammered down the trail, passing rocks and trees like they were standing still.

Be safe. Be kind.
Mari, I'm sorry your long anticipated Wonderland Trail Hike was interrupted so early by foul weather. I can't help but think though that that was divine intervention to prevent to long hike from happening this year and to redirect your hike elsewhere this time.
Beautiful pics of your hike though. Such an amazing world we live in!

I'm still in the process of trying to catch up.
What an awesome trip. I can only hope that someday I have an opportunity to share such an experience with my DW.
