Life is a headlong rush into the unknown. We can hunker down and hope nothing hits us or we can stand tall, lean into the wind and say, "Bring it on, darlin', and don't be stingy with the jalapenos."
This weeks goal is to keep the majority of my running very very easy. We'll call it a down week......Preparing to ramp the mileage up into the 60's and hang there a bit.
I Can Go The Distance
Thanks Holly
With my first 20 miler coming up this Sunday, most of my runs will be easy this week.

Wednesday: 6 miles easy Done
Thursday: 6 miles easy w/16x100m strides Done
Friday: 11 miles MLR Done
Saturday: 5 mile recovery run Done

Here's my plan:
Monday: 0-3- upper body workout and abs- Ran 0 miles and no strength training- will try to fit that in today
Tuesday: 5 with hill repeats and strides- ran 6.5- hills, speed and upper and lower body workout
Wednesday: 10- lower body and abs - 10 miles
Thursday: 10- ran 0= felt sick
Friday: 0-3- 0- I hate 2 days off
Saturday: 2 mile warmup/race a half marathon/2 mile cooldown- Arrived too late to do a warmup- just ran the 13.1 miles
Sunday: 8- recovery- 0- life got in the way big time today.
Total: 29.6- way too low this week.
Thanks for keeping us all on track and motivated. It does help a great deal. I hope the warmer temps are here to stay.
I'll be happy to get through the jaws of Boston training and into sharpening and then bring on 4/19!

Thanks Holly!
If things go according to plan, this will be another new PR for weekly mileage. No real long run this week, but I'm going to attempt to run a half marathon on my own on Saturday before a half marathon race (that I'm training through) on Sunday, so I can simulate "marathon fatigue" during the race. We'll see how it goes. It's a hilly course, and I wasn't going to shoot for a PR anyway. Hope it doesn't backfire!

* Step down. Best I can describe it is an interval progression run, I did it as follows...
WU, 20 min HM, 3 min jog, 10 min 10K, 2 min jog, 5 min 5K, 1 min jog, 2 min fast, CD
Not at it at all.
Another week down and now to get serious. Boston is out, which really stinks cuz I was most likely in the first corral...
Oh well, I think I am now going to target the Fargo Marathon on 5/22. Gives me a few more weeks to train...

Thanks Holly,
Still trying to shake this sinus/chest thing. Doc says my lungs were clear Monday, so its back to running what I can. (Doc is a runner too). Reserving the right to change the schedule as the week progresses as my body allows.
Mon: sick
Tues: 8 miles - 9.0 miles including 4 miles @ MP (7:30 pace). legs feeling good, HR was good even with the sinus meds. started some coughing during my cooldown, but nothing bad.
Wed: 15 miles (hit 20,000 running miles logged since Jan2003) - AM 7.0 miles aerobic paced, good run, just a little coughing toward the end. PM 5.0 miles recovery paced, had to quit due to coughing.
Thurs: 8 miles - 15.0 miles (7:48 pace overall) including 7.0 miles @ 15k pace (7:04/mile), legs felt great, very little coughing. sinuses are getting better.
Fri: 12 miles with tempo run - 9.0 miles recovery pace, legs actually feeling ok.
Sat: 8 miles - 4.0 miles recovery pace, body very tired and lots of coughing, called it quits early.
Sun: 22 miles - 22.0 miles, ok run, slower pace than usual, gusty head wind the last 12 miles, lots of hills.
total: 71 miles, I'm very happy with the mileage and speed run this week considering still recovering from this cold thing.
Holly, good week for you. Nice MP run on Saturday and another longish run on Sunday.
Hermosaboy - another great week in the books for you. Was your 4 miler a local race? Anyway, congats on a great time on the end of a 100 mile week. Looks like your in great shape for which ever marathon you chose.

A good week coming off a ski vacation. 48.1 miles with a spectacular 20 miles LR with the last 11 miles at MP (8:22). Not that I intend to run Boston at 8:22 ...
