      Happy Friday gang,

I am so glad the week is coming to an end. This has been a rather long, but fun week for me and the fun is not over since we are getting ready to go to Portland for a wedding. We will spend the night in Seattle and we will have a chance to have dinner with the taperboy tonight!

Speaking of the taperboy, aka tetsujin, here is a picture of him and his DD having dinner at a Japanese restaurant last night. We will have dinner at the same place tonight.

Ohh, 2 miles of running this afternoon and one hour of XT with my homevideo this morning!

"Champions are everywhereall you need is to train them properly..." ~Arthur Lydiard

I am going to be bad and just say hi today.  I managed 14 miles, some 8 miles with zombies in chase (and I escaped all the hordes thank you).  Part of the run is along what my town calls the "Gold Coast" where the celebrities live in homes on 2+ acre waterfront lots.  Just before you get to the homes you can see the Long Island Sound and here is what it looked like about 15 minutes before sunrise this morning.

I did get an early run in - it was dark. Then a 10 hour work day and now am off to take LW to see the moon ... and see if I can find a pint of ice cream.

I'm so glad your race went so well.   a little faster???     : )

...thanks so much for coming to...  oh.  shhh.   come over here a minute.... you can bring the ice cream,,,,,

              Hey Tet,

Speaking of Japanese restaurants, I'm going to be feasting at one Sunday night in Japan.  I head over tomorrow morning and will be there for two weeks working.  Should be fun.  Glad you had some quality time with your DD.

Hello everybody!  Another fun day at RA, I see.

C-R--it is so cool to hear about you running at the track with your DS.  I know you're enjoying every lap...and he'll never forget it.

Very cool picture of you and your DD, Tet...well...cool picture of your DD, anyway...

Why do I picture that Pumpkin Pi sitting on wild's porch?

Well, I had a nice surprise, tonight.  I was getting ready for my run and Eric came walking in my room.  He came over to get some newspapers for a school project.  I felt bad about just leaving so I asked him if he would like to ride a bike with me on my run...and he did.  It was very cool.  We talked about his school project and he said he had to make something out paper for art.  I suggested making something with paper mâché and he liked the idea, so we came home and worked on that for awhile.  It was a fun night.

Unfortunately, it wasn't all fun...I had to shorten my planned 10 miler to 6.3 because of my hip.  It's really ticking me off.  There was no warning at all.  I was running so well, lately...then bam--I wake up with a sore hip.  I iced it for awhile...we'll see how it feels in the morning.

Okay--I'd better get some sleep.  Oh--good luck to all the racers this weekend!

nice pic of you and your daughter Tet. thanks for sharing that as I know you have rarely, if ever since I first joined the hottub party, posted pics of your family.

speaking of hottub parties, our hottub motor is currently being rebuilt/fixed, or something like that and on these very chilly and clear nights, with the full moon especially, would sure make for some nice hottubbing. Hoping we get that back soon.

still not sure what I'll do with green tomatos. I've had green tomato pie. not a fan. nor a fan of fried green tomatos. I might try to find a recipe for a green tomatillo sauce to can and see if that might work. Or just put in a paper bag til they ripen and make regular salsa.

thanks for the congrats to my son, even from that curmudgeon who's not speaking to me.  I think I need to make and can some apple pie filling to give him another reason to continue not speaking to me. Either that or a photo of an apple cake I plan on making tomorrow.

what a day! I was at my MIL's apt for 7-8 hrs giving so much stuff away, selling a few smaller things, but mostly just wanted to give stuff away that will save me a trip to GoodWill.

Thanks. I liked that restaurant so much, I went back tonight too.
Maybe posie can <img> another picture.

I’m with you mikeE, on pi pie for wildchild too.
                    .
MikeMP - if at all possible try to go to Nikko for bright red forests on the i-ro-ha with its 48 ascending curves and another 48 on the down one too.   Hakone okay too with Mt. Fuji backdrops. Lots of hotsprings at both.  Otherwise, Wednesday marathons in Hiratsuka and the next bimonthly Takebashi Imperial Palace on 11/2.

Whole hillside will be bright red this time of year

                    Iroha-zaka – Japan

                    Iroha-zaka 2

Iroha-zaka is a winding road from Japan which connects central Nikko and Oku-Nikko. The road comprises of 48 curves and each corner has an ancient Japanese alphabet, starting in alphabetical order from I-ro-ha which also gave this road’s name. Iroha-zaka is actually made of two roads, one to come down and another to go up and they both have 48 curves matching the 48 letters of the ancient Japanese alphabet.

Tet - you have a lovely daughter! And that road looks beautiful - how long is it from the first to the 48th curve?

Thanks Tet, maybe I'll be able to visit those next summer when I'm over there.  I'll be heading home on 11/1 so will not be able to run the marathon.  Though, I'm hoping to run some in the near future.

5 miles this am on the TM as I'm getting ready to hit the airport.

                        Happy running all.
