So Tet, do you actually count all the stairs on each run?  I think I would totally lose track!

I was thinking that, too.  I would be going, "697, 698, 699 - Oh, look at that squirrel!  Darn, where was I?"

Life is a headlong rush into the unknown. We can hunker down and hope nothing hits us or we can stand tall, lean into the wind and say, "Bring it on, darlin', and don't be stingy with the jalapenos."

Karen, UW beat #2 Michigan last Saturday, so you never know! Badgers are def having a less than impressive year overall.

Felt good waking up this morning so must have just been a little fluke not feeling good last night.

Today did Crossfit for an hour then 5.2 miles with hills!! My legs are feeling it but feel great!!

My goal is to be stronger before I turn 60 in 2020!!

Tomorrow is supposed to be downpours all day -- still need to get in at least 1 mile outside for my Warrior Challenge - sorry TwoCat!!

Still not sure if I have PF, felt more like an ache, like a bruise, when running today, but I didn't push it to see! It's slight enough that if I paid attention to some other ache I didn't notice it. Regardless, I'll take it easy so I don't sideline myself. Didn't hurt when I first put weight on it this morning.

Tramps - I hope your right but back in the "Boomers-and-Beyond" days,

someone said that baby-boomers are post-war, not during or before.

The Census Bureau defines "boomers" at all the way up to 1964 because that's when birth rates returned to roughly immediate pre-war levels.

So Tet, do you actually count all the stairs on each run?  I think I would totally lose track!

It's hard, especially when there's several non-stair steps to be taken between the earthen/RR-tie ones so I do a lot of back-tracking and double-checking but got a good start from www.publicstairs.com, e.g. they have 310 for the longest stairway in the Hillside Park and I've gotten from 301-309.  I think by taking each stairway as an isolated entity, they count some stairs that are also on intersecting stairways.  I need to have tramps and twocat check 'em out.

I first got interested in stairs in Japan on the supposed 1,368 stairs up to the upper Konpira Shrine along the 88-shrine pilgrimage in Shikoku I've done parts of.  In fact, I did get 1,368 a couple of times when I checked it out six times on a long 5am - 9pm day in wooden geta sandals, straw waraji sandals, cloth zori flipflops, rubber-soled jika-tabi with cloth uppers, cloth tabi, and barefoot.  in addition to Konpira, ended up with three more on three different mountains in Kyoto that are in the 1,200 range, include Mt. Hiei of Marathon Monks fame.  (copied internet photo is lower reaches of Konpira)

ps KSA - we didn't have high school football in those days

but I sure came to appreciate the game in college

by reselling student season tickets, . . .

at least when the team was winning.

              Nice pictures, tet.

2.5 treadmill miles this morning and 2.5 this afternoon before heading to the airport.  Thought of Joe because this afternoon's run was too close to lunch.  Rough basketball game tonight for Vanderbilt- facing No. 1 Tennessee, our arch-rival.  We are horrible right now, for various reasons, and Tennessee is, well, number one.  I'm not sorry to be traveling.  My daughter did a big no-no which would bring down the wrath of Vandy Twitter upon her-  she sold her tickets for $100 each and she and my husband will go with our tickets.  That's nice money for her.  The tickets were going for up to $300 each this week.   A miracle could happen....

Sorry to link running to your digestion, Karen!!

Truly "manna" for your daughter, that!!   Sounds like an illustration for a homily, to boot!!!

Have an awesome time in Florida!!!

Post-war. Census Bureau (and many others) = 1946-1964.

Boomers came about because the soldiers came home from WW II and a good economy.  Being a non-boomer, 1945, I'm neither greatest generation or depression kid.  we have a family term, but it's not PC to put on a public forum.

Well whatever we are, I think all the generalizations are a little silly. You just can't really categorize people like that. Ok, maybe a general population for trends, but certainly not individuals.

It warmed up! It was about 10° to 11° for my run today, overcast and just a slight breeze to make part of the outbound run a little cold on my cheeks, but oh wow is this nice! And tomorrow should get into the 20's! Woot! I did 6.7 miles today including 3 x about .3 to .35 trips up a hill and back, so I'm calling it a hill run, even though it was a good mile and a half of pretty flat to get to the hill part. So good to get off the treadmill! This warm spell should last into next week, I think. That makes me

                      huh, we're PC?

                      huh, this is public?

Why does 40-degrees warmer than erika seem cold?

Hey y'all, got up in time to run this morning.....but maybe 100m or so in I wasn't feeling it at all so I bailed.  Would have paid for it later (it's been raining since lunchtime) but instead tried out a TM that is in our hangar.  Not in great shape, but it runs and I got in 6 mile "cardio" interval workout.  Stayed at level one so it alternated between 1% and 2% grade.  Worked the speed up to 7.5 mph and stayed there until I had the 6 miles.

Steve, not sure how you got that picture of me....but I swear I look a lot more professional in uniform!  Also +1 more on the children's book idea.

Joe, thanks...leaves me out; that's our drill weekend and it was moved because we have a higher headquarters inspection that weekend.

Need to fill out my stuff for the Y here--have a greta evening everyone!

                        MM #5615

                          Hello everybody!

It's been pretty busy at work and at home the last few days, so I haven't had a lot of time to sneak in here.  But...I'm in here, now.

It seems like I had all kinds of things to comment on from the last couple of days but I am wiped out.  I know I wanted to comment on Jlynne's friend and how she went out of her way to do want she could to help...I just thought that was pretty cool...of course, it doesn't surprise me at all.

It's also good to see some of the injured people getting back at it.  Holly--I think you will be just fine in Hawaii...and if I'm wrong...well...you'll be in Hawaii...and you'll be with Erika!

tet--you always amaze me with your feats...and your feets.

My brain is fried so I'll post my run and get out of here: 9 miles of tempo sandwiched between a 1.5 mile warmup and a 1.5 mile cool down.  (psst...Steve...that's 12 miles total)

                          Okay--gotta go.  See ya!

Almost a full day of work (5.5 hrs), PT 2x, and a 13 min walk.  Stellar day.

Well exactly! And we'll have fun cuz DH and DS1 and DIL will be with us and we're all about fun! Smile

Seriously, I was thinking we needed to wrap Holly in bubble wrap now that she's not ouchie anywhere and recovering. That and some duct tape. Where's DG. when I need her??
