40/40 Thread for Week Ending 8/31/08 (Read 456 times)

    For those of you who are new, this is the 40/40 thread, for people who are over 40 years old who run or aspire to run 40 miles/week. We give Free Passes to those who come really close or try really hard... Here's the the tally from last week. Let me know if I missed you or got the wrong number.

        Wow Holly, I didn't realize you had that many miles last week...40 / 40 here she comes Smile. And again, thanks for doing this for all of us. Mon - 4 Easy / recovery miles Tues - Mid-week long with 6 - 1000 M repeats - 13.2 miles - 8:03 ave pace Weds - Tired, so 4 mile easy / recovery miles Thurs - 10 "easy" miles that were not easy - 9:15 pace Friday - Rest Sat - 17 mile wave run - 2:27 8:39 ave pace Sun - 8 easy miles Total - 56.2 total miles

        Running has given me the courage to start, the determination to keep trying, and the childlike spirit to have fun along the way - Run often and run long, but never outrun your Joy of running!

              Okay, I've made 2 weeks of 40/40 in a row. I'm so confident I'll make 40 this next week that I'll even post a schedule of sorts. That ought to keep me motivated.

                This week I will taper some for my 35 miles on Sunday and the Heart of America Marathon on Labor Day. Monday 15.35 Tuesday 11.85 Wednesday 8.60 Thursday 6.25 Friday 5.30 Saturday 3.00 Sunday 35.00 Flatlander 12-Hour Run, I am planning on stopping after 35 miles. Total Miles 85.35 TomD

                          Thanks as usual, Holly. And wow, already > 30 mpw ... impressive. Plan - uh, run more than 2 days this week... Mon - 13 miles easy, nature park trails, 3 deer. 1 hr walk w/dog, roads + paths. Tue - off Wed - 13 miles easy, roads+hs track. 45 min walk/jog w/dog, roads + paths. Thur - off Fri --- off Sat -- 16 miles easy, old forest rock road up/down. Sun - off Total - 42 miles

Monday - 5.02 recovery miles for me today - 46:33 (9:17) Avg HR 115 Max HR 127 - 60 degrees and a very 98 % humidity. Tuesday - 8.04 miles - 1:03:43 (7:55) 70 degrees and 53 % humidity made it very nice indeed. 8:16 - 8:05 - 8:05 - 8:01 - 7:54 - 7:50 - 7:48 - 7:26 - :14 Wednesday - 5.01 Miles - 44:38 (8:55) - Avg HR 115 Max HR 126 - Sunny 65 and 58% humidity 9:02 - 9:00 - 8:56 - 8:50 - 8:43 - :04 Thursday - 10.11 miles - 1:20:30 (7:57) Avg HR 134 Max HR 150. 8:53 - 8:35 - 8:34 - 7:32 - 7:31 - 7:31 - 7:31 - 7:30 - 7:31 - 8:22 - :55 (80 and 33% humidity) Friday - 6 miles - Saturday - Off Sunday - 18 miles - Total - 62 +/-

                                33.7 for me this week after a trip and fall on Wednesday. Not sure if the ribs are cracked or bruised, but I can't run. ARGH!!!!
