are you taking some time off?
My 84-yo IM mentor just came back from a half-iron in Hawaii where
his GF missed the 1.2 swim cutoff by only one minute so missed out
on passing hundreds of faster swimmers on their bike and run legs.
I know the feeling as I missed one of my last ones by three minutes
in 2003 before wimping out and using a borrowed wetsuit
before retiring from IM's after the next two as prices
started increasing to the $700 range that
kind of takes the fun out of it, especially
without training way more than I would,
there's a good chance to DQ again..
I'll get in the 10K Shore Run with both of them tomorrow.
With a 43:18 (6:59m/m) in 1978, it remains my lifetime
race PR . Tomorrow'll take almost twice as long.
However, it will be twice as much fun with frank
and sylvia instead of by myself.
6/12 Shore Run 10K - tetsujin (Seattle) - barefoot.
ps - cloudy and a little cooler in the mid-fifties today
so tomorrow should be perfect for running too, especially
for Paul running the Light-at-the-end-of-the-Tunnel
Marathon on the exact same downhill course
you'll be doing in the July Jack-and-Jill Marathon
down the old Burlington Rail line
from the Snoqualmie Tunnel
to North Bend.
