40's / 50's / Beyond on the Run (W/E 8/15) (Read 355 times)

Hey folks....I've been out of town on bus. nearly all week.  While I had a couple of runs scheduled, did not manage a single run while on the road.  I used to kinda pride myself on running no matter my traveling schedule.  I intend to get back to doing that.  Moving evryothrday back to Stilwater today....

Jewels.....sounds like you have some challenges at home and work.  Hope the daughter is better and I hope hub is getting better as well.  I know how painful a back injury can be and also how frustrating it can be to the both of you.  Glad your getting some short runs in.  Good luck at work.

Ultra...Thank you for the update.  Boys in football....I love the fall.  Sorry for my ignorance....is Jack your husband?  Congrats to him on Winning the VT100 ( I'm assuming that's some 100 mile race?)  Sounds like your venture as personal trainer is going good.  Congrats on that!

Mtn..."went and signed up for a couple of marathons"

Jim........How are things on the farm?  I'm assuming harvest is done?  What's next?

Leslie....18 miles....nice!  I enjoy our banter.   Nice going on your slot machine win.....can you loan me a few bucks?

Joe...you're getting some nice runs in.....it's no surpise, you're as consistent as can be.  Very nice.  Some people don't get my attempt at humor.  I'm always looking for the fun in things.

    Welcome home Arla.

    Happy belated BD Stumpy!

MTA....I learned a new word the othr day.  I intend to use it evry chance I get.  So here it goes.

"I've been slacking off as of late, so I intend to up my level of badassery."

I haven't heard it pronounced, only seen it in print.  I'm thinking it's pronounced "ba 'dassery".  But depending on your local dialect I'm guessing it may be pronounced differently.

Quit being so damn serious! When we change the way we look at things, the things we look at change. "Ya just gotta let it go." OM

    Trails are hard!

Happy middle of the weekend all.  Sort of a strange feeling one for us.  After our 3 weekdays in Maine it felt really starnge to come home for the weekend.  Of course the reason that we came back early was to get up at 4:45 to pick up DD at the airport after her red-eye flight.  She survived her first trip on her own, registered for the proper clsses, and met up with some friends from her original visit with DW.  All in all a successful trip.

My 5K was also pretty successful.  This is the Cigna Corporate Challenge--supposedly one of the largest 5Ks around.  they were talking about  6000 people registered.  About 5000 finished.  I was the team captain (we did it last year, too) and I had 12 people signed up.  I had lost 5 by the time I got to Maine and then on the 2 hour drive to the race (it was in Manchester, NH) I lost 2 more, but gained one back--so we ended up with 6 folks.  But everyone found me at our meeting spot and I was able to relax and enjoy the run a little.  29:45 made me at least a little happy (I didn't want to go over 30).

we stood around eating bananas and ice cream sandwiches (not sure they're normal post-race fair, but still tastey) and went out for some extra re-hydration and dinner.  Very nice socializing and to make it even better, one of the owners who ran said that she would pick up the tab for all of us.

I'm hoping to hit my 18 sometime soon.  Of course, mine will be for the week

Leslie--you're the kind of player the casinos hate.  Take the money and run!!

R2-puppies sure are amusing while they're growing into their paws.

I guess I don't feel TOO left out--Ev wished me happy birthday twice.

Hi to eveyone else--the Sox beckon. And I hope that it cools off a little for tomorrow morning.

      Kevin

Need a fast half for late fall.  Then I need to actually train for it.
